US Recognises Kosovo

There are no Kosovars. There are only Kosovo-Albanians. Amongst those one million displaced people during the NATO bombardment, ALL peoples of Kosov and Metohija were displaced regardless of their ethnicity.

Yea, that shit happens when you fight terrorists. You probably just swallowed all the propaganda from CNN and BBC and thought damn, what an injustice. It's not my problem you are a sheep.

And you just overgeneralized the whole conflict (thousands of deaths, millions of refugees..). Some of the Bosnians, namely the Bosnian Serbs, will join Serbia, sooner or later. To ask the Croats anything makes no sense, we dont wanna live with them anyway.

Stay off the slivovitza, is not good for your judgment.

Economically you were communist country with central planning, so come off the high horse.

Yea so what? The whole point was that the Kosovo support in the 70s and 80s was not a great 'Serbian thing' but that every republic was involved in it.

So is Kurdistan forming anytime soon?

Most probably not. Otherwise America can forget about their Incirlik and Izmir air bases;)

However I think it's time for an independent Basque republic. The certainly have enough good football players to form a decent team.

SNOOP RECOGNISES KOSOVO

The fledgeling state of Kosovo received a major boost today when Snoop
Dogg officially recognised it. "For sho', you know I gots to recognise,"
remarked the hip-hop artist and sometime procurer of prostitutes,
impressed by the extent of the sex and drugs trades in the breakaway
republic. "Oh, they pimpin' ", he commented, "And homie got some blow,
for real. Ooh-whee, put it in the air."

Snoop was joined in his act of recognition by the US, Dr. Dre, Britain,
Germany, France, Bishop Lamont, and Italy. Earlier in the day, the self-
proclaimed Government of Kosovo had sent a letter to all 192 UN member
nations, proclaiming statehood and requesting formal recognition.

Snoop: "I gots to recognise"

However, security council members Russia, China and Fifty Cent have
all rejected the claim. Russia referred to the new entity as a "false state",
while Fiddy was reported as shouting in an animated fashion, "Them
bitches need a slap-down, knowmsayn? Because shit is fecked up." And
legendary New York rapper Tim Dogg, in a rare display of East Coast -
West Coast unity, agreed, saying, "You cain't just go sendin out no letter,
expectin to be recognised or whatever. You want niggaz to recognise, you
gots to make 'em recognise, knowmsayn? You gots to take a muthafeckin
corner, shoot a cop, lay down a muthafeckin beat, something. A
letter - that is some bitch-ass shit, knowmsayin'? That be, like, a weak-ass
move," adding, " 'n' shit."

With the security council split, and EU members Spain, Cyprus, Romania,
Bulgaria, Slovakia, and Slick Rick all demurring, due to fears over their
own separatists, solidarity with Serbia, and drunkenness, respectively, the
Kosovars look to have a long wait in store for membership of the UN. But
president Hashim Thaci remains in ebullient mood, saying, "We have
waited for this day for a long-ass time." From today, he said, Kosovo was
"proud, independent, free, and wilin' out. Niggaz best watch they backs,
knowmsayn?" A statement that will certainly not fall on deaf ears in
Moscow, Beijing or Compton tonight.

Interesting article from 2002.

Camp Bondsteel, the biggest “from scratch” foreign US military base since the Vietnam War is near completion in the Yugoslav province of Kosovo. It is located close to vital oil pipelines and energy corridors presently under construction, such as the US sponsored Trans-Balkan oil pipeline. As a result defence contractors—in particular Halliburton Oil subsidiary Brown & Root Services—are making a fortune.

...

According to Colonel Robert L. McClure, writing in the engineers professional Bulletin, “Engineer planning for operations in Kosovo began months before the first bomb was dropped. At the outset, planners wanted to use the lessons learned in Bosnia and convinced decision makers to reach base-camp ‘end state’ as quickly as possible.”

Serb protesters attack U.S. Embassy

(CNN) -- Angry demonstrators protesting Kosovo's independence from Serbia attacked the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade on Thursday, throwing rocks, breaking windows and setting fires.

Serbian TV showed someone trying to set fire to the U.S. flag at the embassy, which was closed and unstaffed when the masked protesters attacked.

Riot police fired tear gas at the rioters and lines of armored vehicles were on the streets before the embassy perimeter was secured. A State Department official told CNN "things are under control."

Kosovo for trainers

during riots after peaceful protest in Belgrade against Kosovo independence, a couple of girls (along with hundreds of hooligans) are robbing shops. After the video being shown on YouTube, they were in the TV news, saying they hadn't been planning it, but when they saw thousands of people stealing what they could, they decided to join them.
'If we were rich we wouldn't steal, where were the rich people's children, they weren't there 'cause they have everything' etc.

Those bitches should be jailed, that's disgusting. It's one thing to burn down a flag or an embassy but to destroy your own shops and rob them, that's just sick. I hope they identify and jail them.

So when Belgrade was burning where were the Army and the police?

The worst thing about this is they know they were being filmed and they carried on regardless, I'm sure prisons in Serbia are beautiful.

Just to further the situation, a senior member of the Russian government hints at military action over Kosovo- Putin really is an idiot if he thinks he can scare western capitals. The Russians love to bully her small neighbours but when Gordon Brown stood up to him all he did was fall silent.

"If the EU develops a unified position or if Nato exceeds its mandate set by the UN, then these organisations will be in conflict with the UN.

In that case Russia would "proceed on the basis that in order to be respected we need to use brute force", he said."
The Russian Ambassador to NATO

The Russians are obsessed with respect. I wonder if they'll ever realise that the reason they're not thought of as a great nation is that they act like a pissed bloke in a pub who thinks you're looking at his bird.

Are you insane?

Better the empty shops than the sovereign soil of a foreign country in a presumed attempt to kill those inside the Embassy.

Murder? Breaking a window? Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

The Basques won't stop trying to murder my cousin-in-law.

feck 'em.

Everyone else? Go for it. The best long long term solution to Iraq (imho) does include a Kurdistan.

Putin has been doing a ton of sabre rattling, but he'd be insane to follow it up with force.

Invade a NATO country, and not only risk some sort of small scale military action (like to liberate the country) but also risk losing all of the foreign investment that has led to years of economic growth.

They're not strong enough to helicopter their cock quite yet, although I am worried that Putin's eventual goal is to do just that to assert themselves as a rival to the US and China.

Strange, I dont hear you screaming about the aggression on the sovereign soil of an international recognized country.

Also nobody attempted to kill anybody, it was well known that the embassies were all empty.
