Paul Could Gain From College Counties

Although Ron Paul has fallen slightly behind Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney in the vote-counting, he still has a chance of winning - in part because some of his strongest areas, college towns, have been slow to report results.

Story County, where Iowa State University is located, has had none of its 43 precincts report. And only 22 of 57 precincts have reported in Johnson County, home to the University of Iowa. (Mr. Paul has 36 percent of the votes there so far.)

That makes sense, help him reel in the extremists, good idea, don't tell anyone!

Heh, heh, Ass-juice should catch on as a nickname, imho.

Yeah...it's a good one.

Trouble with that is it's what McCain tried with Palin and that didn't work too well. Obviously Ass-juice is light years ahead of Palin though.

Palin came across, to me at least, as frighteningly under-qualified. At least Santorum talks like a man who went to college.

I suppose those that vote in the caucus will be voting republican whoever wins, they have to be the more motivated members of the party to bother. So there's not much point playing to the extremists, what can they do, run to Obama? Not gonna happen.

Maybe he should pick Hillary Clinton, she's basically a republican already.

Ron Paul's wife looks like she should be in Coronation Street.

Romney on top by 13!

I'm not sure if I should be surprised by Paul's slipp down. Perhaps the threat of him winning drove out voters for others. Seems his college age supporters did what college age kids do...didn't show up to vote.

Paul was never going to win it. He is gaining more and more support, no doubt about that, but he can't yet change the opinion of half of the Americans. I don't expect more than 10% of the Americans to vote for him.

Romney is the one the Republicans want to nominate, and he will be the one who will be nominated..

Michele Bachmann: 'I am not a politician'

Hence you came last of the people putting effort into Iowa.

Santorum lost by 18% as an incumbent Senator. It's not at all set in stone that PA would go republican.

Fair point, though it would be interesting having two republican candidates heavily tied to the north east.
