They may as well morph the republican debates into the Miss World contest.

Next up, Rick Santorum in the swimsuit competition...

Absolutely disgraceful. fecking shocking, trying to score a political point like that. Shame on you Rick.

I still can't fathom how these people are the candidates for president of the most powerful nation on Earth. We have our stupid politicians, but they are a) not as stupid as those people and b) not anywhere near that sort of power.

I like to amuse myself with American politics, and laugh, and feel quite superior sometimes, but it's actually quite scary when you get right down to it.

It could be worse, obviously. These guys could have a genuine chance of becoming President, which they don't. It's either going to be Romney or Obama, where Obama has the vastly larger chance of winning, and Romney, while being a bit of a prick, isn't as stupid as the rest.

I think its a testament to the US genuinely being a land of opportunity, where even clinically diagnosed retards can ascend to the presidency.

lads..its not the US as a whole.

Its the Republican party that is full of retards.

Whereas the Democrats are corrupt, corporate-whores. Some choice you folks have :)

The Republican party for all its full-on-retard faults, has also ironically been the party of arguably the greatest ever president of the US.

don't dispute the corruption. you mean where you come from there is none.

They are all corrupt..its a matter of how much... a bit like saying a little pregnant.

As for the greatest president...if you mean Lincoln...in these days he would be closer to the democrats and have nothing whatsoever with the clowns in the GOP.

btw the Greatest president is generally considered to be Washington, though Lincoln would a close second for preserving the union.

Nope, my native country is the mecca of corruption.

But I don't see why you're defending the democrats when in reality both parties are just as bad as one another when it comes to corruption and slave-like loyalties to corporations over their own people. The only difference is that the Republicans have a more lenient IQ requirement to ascend further within the party.

You should concentrate your energy on criticising your entire rotten political system as opposed to just singling out the Republicans.

I'm not in Bob's camp if that's what you mean. That way the worst of the bunch always win. Cause they march lock step. The democrats are not so united. The way to change things is to influence through your local delegates. Take over the party from within. That is slowly happening though it may not be obvious now.

Obama was a move in the right direction. We need to keep working at it.

More and more progressives will slowly get elected. Also the changing demographics will help.

The white race will be a minority in 20 years. In the long run I see the Presidency as being solely democrat.

As I said to pete...never give up.

vote, contribute to those who represent your views, attend meetings to elect your delegates.

The worst thing you can do is say ."They are all corrupt. So I give up"

. Never surrender...certainly not to these heartless scum. ;)

The parties are certainly not as bad. It annoys me whenever someone says that they won't vote, or that no matter what they vote it will be the same, and how there's no difference. There absolutely is a difference. Sure, Obama hasn't been great, certainly not as great as we hoped he would be. He hasn't gotten a lot done. But imagine if this had been a republican instead. We would be lucky if he didn't get a lot done.

I'm all for pragmatism and a certain amount of cynicism regarding politicians and their ambitions, but there's such a thing as taking it too far. When I vote I know there's no way I'll get all that I want, or even all that they say they will do. But I know that I'd rather have these guys than the other guys.

In my opinion he has got a lot done and would have done a lot more if he didn't inherit a mess and if he didn't have repubs blocking absolutely everything.

There's absolutely no way that Obama can lose this election. I'm convinced.

Theres a question in my mind about it.
The right is very motivated against him and will support fiercely any republican candidate once the primary is over. The left are nowhere near as motivated by Obama this time.
With 9% unemployment theres always a chance the average uninformed voter will vote against him, especially with the amount of money that will be in the next election.

Obama is extremely lucky all the republican candidates are slimy, retarded or both.

Things could get worse for the GOP if Ron Paul runs as a 3rd party candidate. I would laugh very hard if he did...

I suspect Newt will be the candidate...rather than weather vane Romney.
Newt gives more red meat to the base.

both idiots of course...but this should be fun.

Not a chance. Even amongst the base the women hate him. He'll have a few weeks in the spotlight until repubes realise that he's actually an odious cnut of a man and that Romney is the only chance they have of maybe beating Barry O.

I doubt a single independent/moderate would vote for Gingrich and a whole bunch of repubes would simply not vote at all if he got the nod.

He's not planning on it but not ruling it out. He's 76 and not running again after next year apparently. He's got nothing to lose by upsetting the GOP.

I think it would be hilarious to watch.

I hope he doesn't because I want the repubs to get beat in a straight up choice between their man and Barry. Then maybe we might see the adults and the sane people retake control of the party and give the country a decent opposition again.

This current shower of shite is nothing but bad for the country.

He has got a hard core following across board, Republicans , independents and even some younger democrats who like his anti war stance, though of course they have not looked too hard at his views on education for example.

Still think he wont run as an independent.

He will never be forgiven by the right.

I think Tyson had it nailed on.

A party that loves crazy more than it hates blacks.

I dont see any change in teh GOP, which will eventually become a regional party.

But I do see the Democratic party breaking into a truly Progressive Party and the party that is backed by big business.

The Occupy Wall Street movement is what will eventually move this.

Wow. Where to begin with this.

Hates blacks....come on. That is such a cliche, I think dems like to say this to make themselves feel better or something. Did anyone notice the front runner for the GOP nomination was black? Just saying.

Regional party? I think it was you and Bob (mostly Bob) spouting the demise of the repubs after the election of Obama (and I wish both parties would die on the vine). It only got stronger after that election and in the time since, just no clear leaders to get behind. But the leaders of two major parties are all pretty much hated right now. You think Reid, Pelosi, Feinstein, et al could run for office and have a chance? Not in a million years. Maybe Hillary.

The dems are already the party you describe. It's the reason health care was so hard to pass. The majorities they had it should have been a slam dunk.

And you give waaaaaaay too much credit to the Occupy movement. It's not organized enough to have any lasting impact.

As a whole this country needs to move far away from the political party type of thinking. Its what is killing our system. We need to look at issues rather than which party this or that?

people are mad with the corruption of both parties. The 2010 election was a combination of demoralized dems staying home and Obama hating republicans, who were promised by Republican politicians they were going to create jobs....we all know what happened there.

The Occupy movement is not organized. I agree. But they will find a leader. It may be an independent, thereby addressing what you are saying.

The problem is we need such people in all districts.

Just look at Congress..the utter mess it is. What the heck are they doing there passing abortion crap laws???

I doubt anybody would argue against the view that the republican party is shrinking. It mainly appeals to old, white people by playing up to their cultural panic and confusion about the radical changes in this coutry since the 1950's.

BTW...Rick Perry just boasted on Fox News about challenging Pelosi to a debate and her refusing to do so!
