I'd rather these channels take a side rather than try to disingenuously project a facade of objectivity like CNN do.

What I take from it is that it was like Biden v Ryan, except on a bigger stage, Obama didn't make any gestures to be criticised for and Romney got fact checked live. Definitely a sizeable win for Obama overall tonight.

If that's a reply to me, I was referring to the moment he actually did get fact checked by the moderator, which made him look like a clown.

That barros poster had a shocker in here last night. What a bell.

I disagree..I prefer that to the blatant propaganda both MSNBC & Fox News partake in.

Outright lies sold as facts.

They do mislead, but their core audiences want and expect it. CNN's comical attempts at appearing objective are laughable. They're so scared of the liberal media tag that they're overcompesnating to where the analysis is useless.

Seen some highlights. The Oil exchange was one that Romney one, the Libya that Obama own on.

I don't think either campaign will think this has been a loss. Romney is probably consolidating his position, so is Obama.

My head nearly exploded reading that, Jaz.

What?

How is Romney blaming Obama for what's going on in Syria and Egypt?

I'm about 2/3 through the debate now, I don't feel that Obama looked a clear winner, even though I mostly disagree with Romney and mostly agree with Obama. I'm not sure it will sway independets.

Typical double standards...he blames him for not propping up Mubarak the ally, despite the cry for democracy from the peoole....on the other hand he is bashing Obama for not waging war with Assad in yet another popular uprising.

Nothing new when it comes to foreign policy...the only thing consistent from both parties has been the inconsistency

Spot on.

(I'd disagree with Syria being a 'popular' uprising but I don't want to open that can of worms here :p)

That was sweet - and yes it did.

Would say Obama won it, but Romney did pretty well as well overall. Cant imagine too many people will change their opinions one way or the other off the back of it.

Romney had a face like a smacked arse when he got it wrong about what Obama said about Libya and got corrected by the moderator. He also came across as a pedantic and arrogant nit picker.

I'd say that Romney did as badly in this debate as Obama did in the first which had undone or more than undone the gains he may have made.

Obama comes across a much better candidate to me. And although he was passive in the first debate at least he was specific rather than talking emotional rhetoric. In the second, Obama was both more commanding and also continued to make more sense.

Yeah he was much more assertive this time round and didn't let Romney just trot out "I don't have a $5tn tax-cut" more or less unopposed. Romney made quite a few mistakes too which can be put into an ad and exploited, unlike Obama in the last debate.

I think Romney was rattled in this debate -- maybe not used to people telling him he is wrong about his facts.

Anyway at this point these debates are for firing up the respective bases -- for the life of me, I can't understand what the stupid "undecideds" are still undecided. Its going to be a crap shoot with them from this day onwards. There are naturally more Democrats than Repubs nationally anyway; if the base is fired-up, Obama will have a fantastic chance.

In this respect Obama has won the debate as his base is a lot more fired-up & ready to go after abysmal performance/strategy of the previous debate.

A good few days for the Obama campaign in view of the Biden debate too.

Obama rambled badly on the assault weapons question - I know he isn't going to get a lot of support from the NRA crowd, but his response was really weird.

Immigration was much better, as was jobs/corporate tax/outsourcing.

Oh and poor Dubya - everyone hates him :(

Was that the bit when he was rambling on about his education policy?

Yes, that was weird. I figured he had boned up on his education policy answers and realised time was running out and he wouldnt get to make his points unless he took drastic action. I remember doing something similar in my GCSEs when a whole load of stuff I revised didnt come up.

I enjoyed the bit - earlier on I think - when Obama was listing ways in which Romney is worse than Bush. I was thinking, come on, nobody is buying this, everyone knows Bush is the worst President ever. Romney may be a flip flopper with a load of complete nutters behind him, but he is no way as bad as Bush.

:lol: Yup, that was it. The moderator tried to bring him back to point, but he responded with a....

'hold on now...this is important'.

I get that he was talking about the big picture etc etc...but it really was weak.

Thank fecking God for that... that would mean I was living in the US and subject to its policies.

Its such a bad place to live hundreds of thousands of people a year emigrate to the US. A good percentage of which come from Europe. Its really no different than any other western country when it comes to your day to day life. The fact that the repatriation rates back to ones country or origin are extremely low suggest your concerns are without basis.

I think this 2nd was more even and the 1st was very one sided.
so if we're counting it's a close call after 2, but on overall points scored Romney is still ahead.
course it doesn't work that way as voters have short memories.

I have a girl friend who is desperate to get out of there... It's a damn good country to live in if you belong to certain groups (not just counting the mega-rich), but for a lot of people it's bad and getting worse. The assault on women's rights is a huge reason why she's worried.

And I could NEVER go bankrupt or get laden with massive because of my genetic luck of the draw, or any other physical harm that might befall me here in Norway... Not so over there.

I have a lot of love for the US, and just spent a wonderful month there, but I have no desire to live there.

Norway and other Nordic countries are a paradise compared to the US. Norway is putting all of the money earned on the North Sea Oil Platforms in a fund that belongs to the Social Security of Norway, right now is the size of about 700 billion euros, not bad for a country of 4,5 million people. That's the smart way to spend oil money, not like Qatar or Saudi Arabia where they spend the money on lavish projects. With this fund Norway will have a healthy social security for generations.
