Was I complaining? I was asking you if cared about what happened to the US or are you just sticking up for your side?

I am conservative. Though in terms of US politics this probably means I could end up voting for either party.

Soo cringe worthy!!

The crowd were chanting for Ryan first, but after the introduction of Romney, more were starting to chant for Romney. It's perfectly understandable and fair for Romney to get them to chant for both instead.

It is cringeworthy though

Yeah, Iowa should be a decent win for Obama (probably by 6%+).

I think the democrats would be lucky to get to 53. I don't think much has changed recently though. Virginia might be getting tighter.. maybe Wisconsin. But still not really close tbh in most races.

looks like a wave election. cant say what will happen.

probability of even the house going to the Democrats.

When they start running away from the top of the ticket...its never good.
Many house members are having to defend their votes for teh Ryan Budget....which wrecks medicare.

Looking into that, it seems very unlikely. Republicans seem to have done a whole lot of gerrymandering to hold on to a lot of seats they won.

Disagree. I think the Republicans will still have a majority in house. And the senate gain are probably 1 or 2 for the democrats.

Not really, house republicans are more in tune with their local constituents than the national GOP.

People still haven't forgotten the Pelosi either.

People would do better to remember the GOP-controlled Congress doing absolutely feck all to try to feck up Obama's chances.

Actually sometimes they did a feck of a lot to feck up his chances. Knowing full well the buck would stop with him.

To be fair, Democrats aren't exactly adverse to doing this too. But usually for less evil reasons though.

I think Feeky was saying that, Mockney.

His sentence should be parsed as: "People would do better to remember the GOP-controlled Congress doing absolutely feck all, to try to feck up Obama's chances".

Ie, they deliberately did absolutely nothing, because by refusing to do anything they severely hurt Obama.

So they didn't redraw a ton of constituencies in GOP controlled states that made it much harder for reps to lose them?

And what's the congressional approval rating right now? 15% or something?

Oh I know. I was clarifying. Though I seem to have made it worse. This is what happens when you think Plech's stupid thread is stupid.

All parties do this when in power. Congress approval has been in decline since 2000ish with a few peaks and troughs since. Both parties have had majorities during that time. It's probably more to do with the partisan politics.

However often it happens, the Repubs have done a good job of structuring it so they lose fewer seats against a swing than they otherwise would, keeping their majority. I don't doubt the Democrats would also do it given a chance, but it seems to be a strong reason why it'll stay Red.

it probably will take a couple of cycles. The Democratic numbers are growing at a much greater rate.

The GOP controlled congress has done all it can to tank the economy. promising jobs...all they did was put forward anti abortion laws.

Ryan will be the stones around their necks.

Nov 6th will be very interesting :)

All this congress talk has been set off by Sam Wang. It's worth remembering that he's a neurologist doing political science in his spare time.

It seems pretty unlikely, anyway. There are about ten seats the Dems are at risk of losing currently, so I don't really see a likely path to wiping out the GOP majority.

I have no real interest in / views on commas anyway (commas, anyway?).

What about lots of dots....in the middle of sentences?

For what it's worth, I'd happily vote Republican if I was American. If they nominated Arnold Vinick.

did anyone see Jim Webb's speech introducing Obama in Virginia recently?

Its riveting and big indictment of Romney. Webb, his brother and son all served in the marines. As I was listening to him, I was thinking this man has to be the Democratic candidate in 2016. The only thing against him is age. But he is the best speaker I have heard after Obama and the man is genuine.

Will make a very good President.

He had a son in Iraq too, even though he was against the war.

He's done with politics though.

God I can't wait to see the expression of the right-wing loons when Obama spanks Romney's sorry little ass.
