It said that on the link, but I don't know who Mark Steyn is.

He's a pretty standard (these days) right-wing doom monger. I've actually read his book America Alone which was a little bit ahead of its time in those circles for predicting the impending demographic death of 'The West' - stuff like that is rather mainstream these days, but he was at the forefront of it ten years or so ago. In fairness, the guy can write quite well. I've no idea what he's done since that book.

Ah thanks.

Another case lined up for the SC to feck up:

In NC redistricting case, federal judges tell lawmakers to use Stanford professor’s maps

A panel of federal judges has ordered North Carolina lawmakers to use maps created by a Stanford University law professor in the coming elections – in the second ruling this week on a state redistricting case.

The ruling, released on Friday, comes less than a month before the filing period opens on Feb. 12 for candidates seeking office in the state Senate and House of Representatives.

It also comes less than 24 hours after the U.S. Supreme Court blocked the effects of a ruling in a different North Carolina gerrymander case in which a different three-judge panel ruled the state’s 13 congressional districts are unconstitutional partisan gerrymanders.

The Persily plan alters nine state legislative districts adopted by lawmakers in 2017 after a previous court ruling that found 28 of the state’s districts used for electing General Assembly members were unconstitutional racial gerrymanders.

He's literally the Joker from the 2008 movie. Does he want to create Stalinists or something?

Chelsea Manning, welcome to the resist- wait whaaaaat?

Yashar Ali looks dodgy as feck as well, for what it's worth

The Dems are shite.

Yes they are. Republicans don't budge on anything like this. I know what they were trying to do but they need to teach Trump and McConnell a lesson. Secondly McConnell isn't the type of guy you make deals with, he's disgusting, untrustworthy and always has a trick up his sleeve to get what he wants. Moreover, he always changes the rules when he has to and it's an indication of someone you can't trust. If Dems cave on this wall they'd suffer at the hands of millennials.

Its probably the best move at this stage. Dems have got assurances that a vote will take place on DACA.

Definitely the best move as neither side is going to get 100% of what it wants and holding public services hostage over this hurts everyone.

From a president who refused to extend the executive order and a senate that refused to vote on it.

The vote will take place before Feb 8.

If McConnell is lying, then the Dems will refuse to vote for the spending bill in a few weeks time and another shutdown will happen.

Drama queens out in full force on Twitter. Some even saying they're leaving the Dem party.
