Thoughts?
Why would anyone have any particular "thoughts" about that? It's a joke.
Interesting but very sad interview with the guy in the guardian - https://theguardian.com/us-news/2024/jan/21/kenneth-smith-alabama-execution-nitrogen-gasTruly disgusting. As I said in the other thread, those who support the death penalty are filth.

Tbh I can somewhat understand the want for revenge that the death penalty gives people(Especially the family of the victims). But I agree with you it’s a insane and disgusting policy to put into practice.
And perfectly on brand for the majority of this country. The first and last answers, when taken together are sickening. They actually devised a new way to kill people after the previous attempt at killing him through lethal injection failed because they couldn't find a vein, and subsequent injection plans were delayed because they couldn't find the drugs involved. The fact that they went out of their way to devise a new way to kill him is pretty sadistic.
The couple of articles I’ve read seem to suggest this new method isn’t any “better” at killing and could be in fact more dangerous to both the prisoner and the executors. Really messed up.They actually devised a new way to kill people after the previous attempt at killing him through lethal injection failed because they couldn't find a vein, and subsequent injection plans were delayed because they couldn't find the drugs involved. The fact that they went out of their way to devise a new way to kill him is pretty sadistic.
Agree. I’m always depressed at how well it polls in a number of different countries.Advocating for the death penalty is to proclaim that someone's vengeance is more important than the life of an innocent person, because there can be no doubt that there are people on death row, and who have been executed, who have done nothing wrong.
An Alabama congressman said that he believes everyone “has some type of racist in them” during a debate in the state’s 1st Congressional District on Wednesday night.
The debate moderator asked Reps. Jerry Carl (R-Ala.) and Barry Moore (R-Ala.) if they agreed with GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley saying the U.S. has “never been a racist country” earlier this month. The two Alabama Republicans are vying to be the GOP nominee for Alabama’s 1st Congressional District after the state’s congressional maps were redrawn last year.
I mean Alabama, so not surprised. What a way to make a justification of suppressing votes and trying to defy court decisions on fair maps. Everyone's a lil racist huh!“Everyone has some racist in them of some type,” Carl answered. “I used to work a lot with ministers … and I had some very private conversations. Everyone has some type of racist in them. My mother through Pearl Harbor — she couldn’t stand the Japanese, she couldn’t stand it. And it used to just eat her from the inside out.”
He then went on to rail against how Alabama’s congressional maps were redrawn last year, suggesting that the maps should not be based on race. Federal judges approved a new congressional map for Alabama that maintains the state’s one Black-majority district and nearly adds a second one, which would boost Democrats’ chances for flipping a seat.
Advocating for the death penalty is to proclaim that someone's vengeance is more important than the life of an innocent person, because there can be no doubt that there are people on death row, and who have been executed, who have done nothing wrong.
I saw that link and it is on my list to watch. Thanks for posting it!I posted a Netflix documentary on this subject in here https://www.redcafe.net/threads/the...n-america-thread.461474/page-87#post-31557621.
Odds for a People's Republic of Texas?
Can you imagine if the actual 2nd American Civil War didn't start over Jan 6, Trump attempting a coup, a terrorist attack on the government, or anything like that - but instead over states' rights to use barbed wire to drown kids?
That will reach many ears in the US. Don't assume they're as informed as the ones who post here.An offensively stupid argument.
"As Somalis, one day we will go after our missing territories" in reference to somali inhibited regions in Kenya and Ethiopia.
The Oklahoma Republican Party approved a resolution Saturday condemning and censuring Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) for his role as a chief negotiator in the Senate border security talks between Democrats and Republicans.
The resolution — a copy of which was posted on X, formerly Twitter — by state Sen. Dusty Deevers (R) said, “Senator Lankford playing fast and loose with Democrats on our border policy not only disfranchises legal immigrants seeking citizenship but it also puts the safety and security of Americans in great danger.”
All day long everyday right wing media squawking in their ears about the migrant waves coming to kill them in the grocery store, steal their jobs, take half their paychecks, sneeze dangerous diseases on their kids.“It is interesting, Republicans, four months ago, would not give funding for Ukraine, for Israel and for our southern border because we demanded changes in policy. So we actually locked arms together and said, ‘We’re not going to give money for this. We want a change in law,'” he said on “Fox News Sunday.”
“And now, it’s interesting, a few months later, when we’re finally getting to the end, they’re like, ‘Oh, just kidding, I actually don’t want a change in law because of presidential election year,'” he added.
