US Politics

Welcome to thr bewildering laws of the USA, in some State(s) you can get married at 14 though it requires parental and judicial approval

Puke.

Makes zero sense to me to have no sense of uniformity for something as basic as legal age. It makes even less sense to restrict alcohol consumption at age 21 while you can marry a girl at 14.

 You couldn't make this stuff up
Of course you can't but if you want weird, these are actual laws:

If you're found wearing a bulletproof vest while committing a crime in New Jersey, you will not only be charged with the crime but have to be charged additionally for trying to protect yourself against bullet wounds.

In Vermont, women must get permission from their husbands if they want to get false teeth.

In Florida, you can't wear masks or hoods covering the face in public

In Georgia, it's forbidden to eat fried chicken with a knife and fork.

ALASKA: A person cannot get drunk in a bar and remain on the premises.

FLORIDA: People who own bars, restaurants, and other places where liquor is sold may be fined up to $1,000 if they participate in or permit any contest of "dwarf-tossing."

IDAHO: Cannibalism is strictly prohibited and punishable by up to 14 years in prison.

INDIANA: Liquor stores can't sell refrigerated water or soda.

MICHIGAN: A statute on the books since 1931 makes adultery a felony in this state.

MONTANA: Driving animals onto a railroad track with intent to injure the train can result in a fine.

NEBRASKA: No person who is afflicted with a sexually transmitted disease can marry

OHIO: Every operator of an underground coal mine must provide an "adequate supply" of toilet paper with each toilet.

TEXAS: People wishing to run for office must acknowledge the "Supreme Being." If not, they could be subjected to religious tests.

They don't want the babies conceived through child rape to be born out of wedlock. What would Jesus think.

ALASKA: A person cannot get drunk in a bar and remain on the premises.

They are all absolutely batshit, spiteful or just outright racist, however the Alaskan one does make sense. Well.kind of.

It's illegal in most countries.to serve people if they are intoxicated. It's often difficult as many people can handle and hide it well, but the worst are those that are absolutely fine then the next drink throws them right over the edge. Bar staff and in some places, also the premises owner or manager can be fined , arrested and sued if accidents result from serving someone too much alcohol. Be it they injure themselves or someone else or anynproperty. It's illegal to serve anyone in the UK if you know they are driving.

So the Alaskan law does make sense to a certain degree and is maybe in place to protect bar workers and owners?

Although you still have the same problem as it's always a judgement call.

I went into my local hardware store (a smaller one, Ace Hardware, not one of those massive DIY stores), and I picked up the item I needed and on my way out I noticed they had a rack of shirts that looked like the below image in CHILDRENS SIZES. At first I grabbed it and showed it to my wife and was like "WTF?". I then got really upset, put my item down and walked out. Never going to that store again. I really, just hate this place sometimes.

This is oppressive. Who hasn't knocked back a few with the boys and then wanted to see who could toss a dwarf the furthest?

i was sure this was going to be an edgy lefty joke, ending with "that's why lincoln is a hero", but no, a genuine libertarian belief:

Not current by any stretch but made me laugh.

The fact this won’t pass is tells you all you need to know. Pelosi will vote against it.

I don't think she's made an actual decision in her life for years. She's been propped up by staffers to hide her illness.

This is what happens when consumers make sub-optimal decisions in the pharmacy market. I hope, for her next daughter, she takes the time to compare pharmacies, coverage, and prices, and inspects which pharmacy coverage is offered by her next job. Or simply be good enough to afford the medicines off the shelf.

This should be a good character-building and teaching moment for the whole family.

Half the time you don't know until it's too late, my daughter was prescribed a new migraine medication and they were charging $1K for 8 fecking tablets, no one said a work about the cost until the insurance said we ain't paying for that - there's a discussion going on so it's not resolved yet

Sometimes there are rebates in place so when you first prescribed it's cheap or free, that happened to me last year, I was prescribed a drug that was costing me nothing, this year they want $400 a month for it, f and off was my response

Have you checked here? Cuban seems to be doing a good thing with this.

The injustice system strikes again. Even if the prosecution went ahead and then loses, going to court would have been a lot better than nothing.
