US Politics

The way he calmly agreed that he said those things is just wrong, clearly doesn't view what he is doing is wrong in anyway, not even to the point of trying to hide it from others.

This is shocking and though I follow US politics quite closely, I'm amazed only 38% of registered republicans would fins racist remarks a major problem in a candidate and only 25% would find a problem with homophobic remarks. The States are moving backwards fast.

That's part of it, but the question specifically asks about accusations of those things. I think Republicans, on top of just being more racist, homophobic, etc, have been convinced by culture war rhetoric that such accusations are probably just PC gone mad, snowflake, liberal tears, fake news.

Alarming that he might still have difficulties with some words because of the stutter he's battled his whole life?

Well, you can't say it wasn't coming. America headed back to the 50s as fast as Republicans can take us.

Something tells me this isn’t the only ‘set in stone’ right that gets dissolved.

This is also the first time anyone can remember a draft getting released publicly.

They'll end abortion rights, affirmative action, voting rights protections, free and fair elections, and civil rights protections. Oh, and don't forget ending Chevron Deference and destroying the federal government's ability to implement any sort of regulation.

This is going to be a very dark period of American history even if Trump never returns to office.

Alito repeatedly references the political process, but these justices know that based on structural advantages they can make political choices that can't be overturned via elections. They gutted the Voting Rights Act in Shelby Co. and told Congress to fix it knowing that Republicans would block any attempts to fix the law.

Example of a huge majority of Americans opposing their decision with no way of effecting that change because of the clusterfeck that is the Senate:

The 1950s was a totally shit decade with nuclear escalation and underlying social problems in the US acting like a pressure cooker ready to blow up. Why the hell would people even want to go back to that?
