US Politics

sanders: i've always respected vp biden, but being honest with joe, your dialectic is just idealism!

warren: i am the synthesis of thesis bernie and antithesis biden.

buttigieg: i know (the) german (ideology)

Maybe the most disappointing politician ever?
Possibly although now looking back at his days before running for and being president, none of this should be a surprise.

Adolph Reed Jr in 1996

The fault is more with us thinking that Obama was something different.

Damn just seen this news. He had to put up with some real shit in the last year, always handled himself with such dignity despite what he had to deal with.

Why do people like him get taken in their 60's while the likes of McConnell get to push on well into their 70s?

RIP

Only 68 .Can't believe it ,never had thought he had any health issues. How bad does that Tweet from Trump look now, nothing he says now will erase that. RIP Elijah.

mr rooney and i may disagree on political issues like whether gay people deserve basic human rights, whether or not poor people should be fired because their child got the flu and whether or not billionaires should have to step over the bodies of street urchins while boarding their mega yachts or if college students on work study should be employed to sweep them away but gosh darnit hes a patriot and he's standing up for the republic. it's a shame to see what trump is doing to a once great party

This guy is not running for re-election so both Republican and Dem candidates can compete to replace him in the November 2020 elections.
Yes but what is the process for selecting the republican candidate... Can trump influence the pick of somebody loyal to him or is it a process totally independent of him

Any Republican can run. It’s up to them to choose how close they align themselves to Trump. If it looks like he may get removed from office they would probably run a regular Republican campaign without mentioning Trump. If Trump looks strong and is willing to campaign on behalf of the person running, then they will probably start spouting MAGA talking points to further endear themselves to him.

Trump will pick himself. He will run for Congress and take all the seats and then dissolve Congress and become God of the USA before then becoming world leader Trump.

The funny thing is, you know he fecking would if given the chance.

So who does the actual selection for the republican candidate a vote of the local party or centrally selected?

Pretty sure it’s done locally and within the party. If Trump intervenes then he could of course influence the process (which he has been arbitrarily known to do at times).

He kind of can, because his endorsement or non-endorsement will make or break those races. His support among registered Republicans is staggering.

It's part of the cowardice of the GOP: most of those hoped to reign in his idiocy are stepping aside and he's replacing them with more sycophants that won't tell him anything he doesn't want to hear.

it's true. teachers nurses and firefighters literally do nothing

I agree with firefighters, but teachers (most of them, i.e. public school teachers) and nurses do a lot and have so much accountability. Nurses and firefighters can have significant idle times (more so firefighters). Nurses can have a very comfortable lifestyle with their days on and days off schedule.

no they dont. nurses literally dont do anything. whenever you ask them a question they say "I dont know, I'm not a doctor" and you see them playing pinochle in a storage closet while smoking cigarettes.

teachers spend their whole day on solitaire and then leave at 230 to live it up on the public's dime. "I need a day off to go to a conference" is just an excuse to drink mimosas at applebees.

Privatise all schools, hospitals and the fire service. Put all of them on minimum wage.
