US Politics

She's incredible. But she will be fighting against the entire American establishment, not just the Republicans, if she wants to become president one day. More power to her. Here's hoping a lot of folk will be more politically engaged/woke by that time, so that she stands a chance.

Is he really saying he wants to privatise the public sector, because America already as socialist services that they take for granted including Military,Fire service ,public library's ,parks ect.

But she will have millions of people behind her in ways they haven't been a politician outside war time.

Of course. They've been trying to do that the last 30 years and its working. Its why the US pays a lot more for privatized military contractors who drain 3 times as much per job as if the military did it themselves - that is when they are actually doing the work and not just flat ripping off taxpayers like Halliburton's KBR division did frequently and then evaded false claims lawsuits with some technicality rubbish

There will be a lot of pressure on her to run in 8 years time.

Yea. It was good she was 6 years off because she can't be pressed too quickly and instead will have a a good amount of time to built her network and allies and hopefully Congress will grow more progressive in this time

Future president.

She's too young to run this time... But is there age restrictions on a v.p. (I assume there is as the v.p. might have to become the president)

I think having her as president would be somewhat divisive as is being proved by trump you have to be president for everybody and being so far skewed to one side probably energises those on the other side a lot... Basically I think she might be too divisive for parts of America but I'm looking forward to her twitter spats with trump throughout the 2020 campaign

Lawsuit by 44 states accuses pharma giants of ‘Multi-Year conspiracy’ to hike drug prices by over 1,000 percent

A far-reaching lawsuit filed Friday by the attorneys general of more than 40 states accused some of the nation’s largest generic drug manufacturers of conspiring to inflate prices, in some cases by over 1,000 percent.

“We have hard evidence that shows the generic drug industry perpetrated a multi-billion dollar fraud on the American people,” Connecticut Attorney General William Tong, whose state led the probe into the companies’ practices, said in a statement.

“We have emails, text messages, telephone records, and former company insiders that we believe will prove a multi-year conspiracy to fix prices and divide market share for huge numbers of generic drugs,” said Tong.

The suit names 20 major drug manufacturers—including Pfizer, Teva, Novartis, and Mylan—as well as more than a dozen senior executives, who the complaint accuses of deleting evidence after the states began their investigation in 2014.

“The industrywide scheme affected the prices of more than 100 generic drugs,” the New York Times reported Saturday, “including lamivudine-zidovudine, which treats H.I.V.; budesonide, an asthma medication; fenofibrate, which treats high cholesterol; amphetamine-dextroamphetamine for ADHD.; oral antibiotics; blood thinners; cancer drugs; contraceptives; and antidepressants.”

Americans pay far more for prescription drugs than the people of any other industrialized nation. Alluding to this fact, Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser—who joined the multi-state lawsuit—tweeted on Saturday: “If you are angry about rising drug prices, you should be. Particularly because a major cause of price increases is illegal collusion by generic drug companies.”

As the Washington Post reported, the 465-page lawsuit accuses drug company executives “coordinating consistently to obstruct” government investigations into drug prices, including after Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) launched a probe into generic drug pricing in 2014.

“Apparently unsatisfied with the status quo of ‘fair share’ and the mere avoidance of price erosion, Teva and its co-conspirators embarked on one of the most egregious and damaging price-fixing conspiracies in the history of the United States,” states the complaint.

That's capitalism for you.

Every policy position she supports is for the benefit of everyone.

Trump only supports racism.

No point to this. Protestors got what they wanted. You can't tell me that you expected students to stop their rave and change their POV after protests. Infact there is no reason for Palestinian group to explicitly protest in this manner and possibly incite violence. They should be allowed to do so but let's be honest about what they are trying to achieve with the same. Zero sympathy for protestors. Using nonsense like how dare they danced in front of destroyed Palestinian village names. You put those names there they didn't sought it out.

Fair play mate that is one hell of a shit take.

The whole issue is predicated upon the belief that any celebration of Israel state is endorsement of the war crimes committed by the state. There is no common meeting ground to be had between two groups. This is not like protestors taking on a neo Nazi rally. Like I said protestors wanted attention for their cause and some condemnation of Israel rave party students. They will get that, on Twitter at least.

Yes, the protestors did get what they wished for (plus some spit and getting arrested, which I think they didn't want). Since they have zero power, and are not using violence, the only weapon they have is shame.

And the connection the event has to the Israeli anniversary is that the main demand was a right of return, which is linked to Israel's founding in 1948.

I don’t see how it’s much different to this...

I'll never, ever understand the argument that people shouldn't protest because it might mean other people will turn violent on the protestors. Like, what the hell do you think a protest is for? A protest isn't good protest if life goes on as normal for everyone. It's like when BLM did those protests on highways, and some people would invoke Martin Luther King of all people and claim that he wouldn't have wanted them to be so "in the way". Which is a really fecking bad take.

I must make two honest confessions to you, my Christian and Jewish brothers. First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.

Spot on. Like when folks kept asking why folks were kneeling on the field instead of in the locker room or somewhere private. Like protest is supposed to be unseen or something.
