Feck's sake, can we please let this discussion go already?
Medical bankruptcies.
Prison population per capita.
Obesity and anxiety.
Fast food consumption.
Fossil fuel burned per capita?
Who the feck cares who’s number one or not? That’s some high school shit man. When someone says "America is still #1 in the world" and you answer "No it isn't.", then you imply that some other country is now #1. So, it is natural to ask "if America is not #1 any more, which country is #1 in the world now?"
On the other hand, some people confuse the #1 with "paradise on earth". Only idiots believe that "the best" (in whatever) means "no problems at all". Paradise on earth exists only in communist utopias, not in the real world. Of course the US has many problems. Of course it can improve in many areas. Of course we should demand improvement. But this is a different question than asking "which country is #1 in the world today?"
You can find a lot of other posts that imply that US is no longer the best in anything. I am saying that obviously US is the best in science and technology. Even pure science that has nothing to do with money. And the US university system is the best in the world by a very large margin. It is just one example that US is much better than anyone else. It is not isolated "people that are doing awasome stuff", it is a whole system of higher educationn research that is the best in the world today.
... it was Americans that saved humans from Thanos. Again!
Definitely #1 at brainwashing.
North Korea would be proud.
I’m wondering if that restaurant is associated with the military. It’s more common to see the initiative to do such things when it’s military people hanging around. You won’t see this in any typical restaurant.

The question is a bit ill-imposed IMO. Sure, US still has the biggest GDP, army and by extension influence in the world, I don't think that many people are denying it. But not many people from European rich countries would want to go to US, unless they are rich (or have the ability to become rich). If you're earning less than 100k in Cali, you're not having a great life, and if you're jobless, then you are also homeless and doctor-less, something that rarely happens in the likes of Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden and co.Those of you who are certain that US is no longer #1 in the world, but cannot tell us which country is currently #1 in the world, can you at least tell us when do you think USA was #1 in the world? Which decade?
1900?
1910?
1920?
1930?
1940?
1950? (with severe racial issues)
1960? (with Vietnam)
1970? (with Nixon)
1980? (with Reagan)
1990? (with neo-liberals)
2000? (with Bush)
never?

Dear god, PC is easily the armpit of Florida. I am sorry if you had to experience too much of it.There as well, but mainly Panana City.

Haven’t laughed out loud recently until I read your reply. I can totally see why. Club La Vela must be like Space for those stuck in lower Alabama. I can remember going to CLV in the early to mid 90s with all top international DJs playing there after Simon’s & Firestone. It has slightly changed. If you live in lower Bama it’s like visiting Ibiza

Destin is where it’s at now for the LA tourists. Panama City is a relic of the 80s/90s.If you live in lower Bama it’s like visiting Ibiza
Drove through there in October after Michael, fecking ghost town, especially to the east past the base. It will be very interesting to see where they are come a couple of months. Even a minor storm could vaporize what’s left.Destin is where it’s at now for the LA tourists. Panama City is a relic of the 80s/90s.

Facebook just announced the removal of a notable cross-section of extremists from social networks Facebook and Instagram, including neo-Nazi sympathizer Milo Yiannopoulos, anti-Muslim bigot Laura Loomer, far-right YouTuber Paul Joseph Watson, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones (again), and white supremacist Paul Nehlen, a failed Republican congressional candidate, while also removing Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan for his record of anti-Semitic rhetoric. This move by Facebook is a step in the right direction, opening doors to making its platforms safer and inspiring some optimism that the tech company might be capable of taking responsibility for the ways its platforms have empowered extremists. But it is clear that there is more to do.
Number 1 in what? Realized military power? Potential military power? Quality of life? Education? Healthcare?
The US is number 1 in only one of those categories. It's number 2 or 3 in potential military power (1 is China and 2 might be India). It's not first in quality of life. It hasn't been first in education in a very very very long time, if it ever was. It's not been first in healthcare, similarly to education, not for a long time if ever.
So what are your metrics for "best country in the world". I feel like you conflate best with biggest of the wealthy western democracies, or military power with best.
The US is a very powerful country, with a lot of influence, but power and influence doesn't make you the best, unless your metric for best IS power and influence, and in that case, that has nothing to do with the average person and their daily experience and struggles.
It's a toxic banana republic. Shithole. It's laughable of US politics/current political climate that a sitting judge may get 20 years for having empathy while a sitting President having committed criminal acts carries on.
Prosecutors are rats
Look at the woman's face at 30.Prove that some politicians are just plain weird.
Yeah .The way she explained it to her colleague then rolled her eyes as if to say WTF.Look at the woman's face at 30.
And I'm sure you can hear someone say "are you sh*tting me" at .07
So awkward, and I think it's stupid.
Eating chicken to own William Barr.
You stay away from her. I’ll fight you.I just watched the documentary with AOC on Netflix.
I love her. Like actual, real love.
Georgia is trying to pass (may have) a bill that would literally criminalize abortion to include if the woman crossed state lines to do so in another state, and punishable up to ten years.
Btw, the audio in that clip is shit. Can you find an audio clip without the problems?
It worked for me
Basically the speaker says, without pausing, amendment is tabled, all those in favour say aye, all those in favour say no, motion passed. All the while one guy was shouting no no no and raising his hand. Then the speaker refuses to backtrack, some other Democrat woman has the mic and says "we know the bill is going to pass, at least have a roll call vote" and speaker says it's already passed because no-one said no or raised their hands [total clear lie].
That's how I saw it too.It worked for me
