God they are so corny. It's like they watched one AOC instagram video and think they have the formula for appealing to the youth.

70% tax on income over $10m in the US?
That level of taxation would be radical in Scandinavia, in the US it is simply unrealistic.
Either the capital will find a way to sneak around it while remaining in the US, or they will move somewhere close and take their wages \ dividends from subsidiaries not based in the US.
Its more the all your base ref I'm applauding rather than the policy70% tax on income over $10m in the US?

The US had a 70% top tax rate just a few decades ago. In fact, it used to be even higher.
Then Reagan happened, and it has only gone one way since that. If they somehow get politicians not controlled by WS and Big Capital and actually manage to adjust the top tax rate, then the capital and the ones controlling it will do a John Fredriksen and say vamonos.
Probably, but at some point you have to decide if you want to be the hostage of the super rich. There's going to be a hell of a transition period, that's for sure, but maybe it would be worth it in the long run.
Also: Fredriksen can feck off.
Also Also: it hasn't gone only one way, but that's mostly nitpicking).

...He is the Cheif Strategist of Magnum Strategies...
I got a ridiculous craving for Monkfish now. Most likely since we are talking about Fredriksen.
This. I'm tired of hearing how these high taxes on the highest incomes would magically solve all problems. The US needs to provide protection for it's unions, raise the minimum wage, institute a federal VAT and close loopholes for corporations to get out of paying taxes if its serious about solving these issues.70% tax on income over $10m in the US?

I think that I am in love with her.
For reference, the quote was taken from a Japanese video game which is famous mostly for having horrific English translation.

All these politicians are ultimately selling their personality brand with stuff like that. It's not really different from Warren parading her dog, i.e. an attempt on creating this warm fuzzy feeling among her crowd that she's "one of us". Just among a different crowd. It's a meme from around 2000/2001, when she was only 11 years old.
I reckon she's entitled to use it without it sounding like she's artificially trying to 'connect with the kids'.
Because, like, it's from when she was a kid.
You're saying politicians want to be liked? All these politicians are ultimately selling their personality brand with stuff like that. Wouldn't have put it that way, tbh. Could you say what you're aiming at with that question? You're saying politicians want to be liked?
I was playing at the fact that the behavior you describe is the very nature of politics.Wouldn't have put it that way, tbh. Could you say what you're aiming at with that question?
