That level of taxation would be radical in Scandinavia, in the US it is simply unrealistic.
Either the capital will find a way to sneak around it while remaining in the US, or they will move somewhere close and take their wages \ dividends from subsidiaries not based in the US.
The US had a 70% top tax rate just a few decades ago. In fact, it used to be even higher. While it's certainly not going to happen any time soon, in the long run it doesn't seem so unrealistic considering a large majority of Americans actually support it. They just need a generation of politicians who support it as well.

This. I'm tired of hearing how these high taxes on the highest incomes would magically solve all problems. The US needs to provide protection for it's unions, raise the minimum wage, institute a federal VAT and close loopholes for corporations to get out of paying taxes if its serious about solving these issues.

All these politicians are ultimately selling their personality brand with stuff like that. It's not really different from Warren parading her dog, i.e. an attempt on creating this warm fuzzy feeling among her crowd that she's "one of us". Just among a different crowd.
