Probably.

But his resistance and the resistance to an investigation in general is interesting to say the least.
I think he probably didn't have a say in it though? As we know, Republicans and Trump want to make the process as fast as they can. Anyone in his position would sayhe will do what the committee wants him to do. No point of taking anything on his own.

He was specifically asked for his own personal point of view and he went quiet and meek. The silence was deafening from someone who was aggressive and very forthright the rest of the entire time.

Who is centrist by all account and liked by the GOP.

true.

Which says where Obama was.

Because the Republicans prevented his appointment I'm fully behind increasing the seats of the SC so it reflects the will of the majority in this country. That court can give its final decision on what is a fair representation of districts instead of the current gerrymandered ones.

It's hard to tell what Clinton's would've been like, post Garland. Would they have continued trying to be boringly bipartisan (and having it thrown back in their faces whenever the repubs got back in), or would the experience have made Schumer nuke the filibuster and go for it at last?

Basically, Kavanaugh isn't SCOTUS today because Flake and Coons are pals who got into a phone booth to ask Rosenstein if he could do an investigation in 7 days.

What Flake and Coons did was exactly what every Democrat and Dr. Ford asked for. An FBI investigation.

Yes. Flake deserved credit and the findings will give cover for any no votes. There is no way Kavanaugh is coming out of this clean.

I think it might end with BK being fed the results of the investigation so that he can withdraw without the details coming out so he can keep his reputation somewhat intact. He'll cite the strain on his family etc.

That is an odd thing to post. Many young sexual assault victims go off the rails as teens. Besides, her conduct after the event isn't an issue here. She's not the one being nominated.
It's not odd for someone who is clueless. Blame the victim is everywhere

I wouldn’t necessarily blame Obama for his choice, since it’s always a tough ask getting your guy in without the Senate, and even Sotomayor was put on track for a SC nomination during the Clinton era. However, bringing up Merrick Garland as leftist street cred for alternative universe President Hillary is fairly absurd to say the least.

He’d be more along the line of a Souter, which is acceptable I suppose, given how the latter’s SC tenure went.

What has any of that got to do with anything? Dr. Ford partied in college, so that means... I don't know, that she's as bad as the man who tried to rape her?

Then again, it was posted by a Federalist contributor who frequently retweets Cernovich, so it might as well be the ramblings of an insane person.

Also, the right-wingers are right now busy painting Ford as a teenage alcoholic who slept around.

The person tweeting must be extremely thick. What does any of that have to do with being assaulted?

think Garland would eventually have moved left because he sounds like an honest judge.

I always think fondly of John Paul Stevens. He was a Republican but when he sat on the court, the decency of the man made him decide on behalf of ordinary people instead of corporations.

It is the need to be just and fair that eventually helps you find redemption.

We need someone like him.

I think the FBI is looking into cases where there was direct assault by Kavanaugh.

Nah....they really don't want to deal with Avenatti. Trump wants no part of him and he's the one who sets the parameters of what the FBI can look into.

Bill Clinton's SC nominations are pretty safe left.
Obama's were to the right of those. I'm certain Hillary's would have been to the right of Sotomayor and Kagen.

Obama's were at least on par with Clinton's in terms of ideological leanings. Breyer and Kagan are slightly to the right of Sotomayor and Ginsburg. Sotomayor has a more liberal voting record than anyone else on the court.

hopefully he has not told them to come up empty.

Though that can only happen if Graham replaces Rosenstein.

I don't think he can tell them that. He can however stack the odds in his favor by avoiding the spectacle of Avenatti and gang rape narratives.

She's a nutjob. So nutty in fact that she can barely get onto Fox, and instead has been cast out to Newsmax.

I'd be shocked if any more Republicans vote no if its revealed he lied about mundane things during the hearings. It would take some sort of evidence (like Judge admitting the incident took place) for them to even consider changing their minds. Collins and Murkowski would almost certainly vote no, along with possibly Flake and Manchin.

So...according to this McAllister person, Dr Ford did some of the things young people usually do while in college. Absolutely damning.

I don't think those things were mundane, since he used his false lack of knowledge to avoid answering questions about his stances on detention, surveillance, etc

Don't be silly. It obviously means she deserved whatever she (allegedly) got, because she didn't seclude herself in a convent. For anyone that still has doubts (dumbat) this is why women often do not come forward when they are raped.

Yeah, I know she's a fringe type.

Still, scrolling through the replies, in between the condemnation, the completely insane part of the right is rearing its ugly head. What they're trying to do to Ford is a hell of a lot worse than Kavanaugh being accused of attempted rape. These insane feckers will stop at nothing to make her life complete hell for the foreseeable future. It's sickening.

Yeah, they are doing everything they can to tear down the image of her as the brave survivor who came forward with her story at great personal cost.
