US Politics

Objectively speaking, how is the bill? I know it’s easy to knock the Dems for going along with GOP policy but I think sometimes bipartisan action instead of pure obstruction can be a good thing. If the bill is genuinely sensible and beneficial to veterans there’s no reason to obstruct it.

Also - I realise that you haven’t commented on that, just the first thing that came to mind.

So, i think there has been a push to privatise the VA, and it started by underfunding it in budgets. The VA's own mismanagement didn't help. Given that the Kochs are behind it, and who voted against it, I'm assuming this is another step towards privatisation.
The only times when Koch stuff is worth looking into (IMO) is on borders and war. The rest is pure right-wing economics.

When I first came across this I didn't believe it (strange sources, fake news etc.). Turns out it really is true, they lost 1500 children :(
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/28/us/trump-immigrant-children-lost.html

How can they take custody of these children and then fail to have any supervision of the people they place them with? Baffling. I hope they are all alright but given the experiences I've been relayed about foster care I fear some of them may not be.

Its rather telling that he's resigned on the day that a judge ordered his nonprofit organization to hand over documents. Got to be something damning in those documents.

True. He probably knows its the end of the road given his case and all the information that might come out shortly.

Guess who was behind black black for Bernie?

I'm curious what black posters on this forum feel about this. I'm a white man born and raised in Texas and even I saw the bullshit being spouted from the GOP for years and from Trump et al. I have never understood why a "minority" in America would contemplate voting for a republican let alone actually casting a ballot for.

Guess who was behind black black for Bernie?

(As I guess is obvious to people here) I followed the Bernie campaign a lot and honestly don't remember this guy (Bruce Carter). Bernie's performance and endorsements among blacks (especially in the south) was bad, but there were a few faces that I do remember: Ben Jealous, Nina Turner, Killer Mike. None of them are mainstream Dems but nor are any of them anywhere close to Trump. I don't remember this guy and apart from 1 obviously deranged journalist (HA Goodman), I don't remember any famous people going Bernie -> Trump. Susan Sarandon, who has attracted massive hate, went Bernie -> Jill Stein (not Trump).

This sort of behaviour has to be down to some sort of mental illness, doesn’t it?

Hannity....preemptively hedging in case he has to deal with similar circumstances down the road.

The new batch of posts also revealed that Reid used to tout “America First” immigration policies and made anti-Semitic comments. Carlson revealed that Reid’s blog argued that, among other things, native-born Americans, not “low-paid Mexican workers” should rebuild New Orleans, agreed with Lou Dobbs on immigration, and even criticized flying the Mexican flag on U.S. soil.

Tons of libs said things like this in the 2000s. Not surprised.
