Cilic lost the 2nd set after winning the 1st. Incredibly hard slog this match is. It was 5-5 in the 1st set 2 hours back and it's just 3-4 in the 3rd right now.
Fish won fairly easily in straight sets. Davy vs Gasquet on now. Should be a good game.

But yeah he's not really much loved is he. He's a real wasted talent. He was the up and coming guy on the tour after his win in 08 and his performances before that. But he's just been consistently average since then.
His fitness and lack of adaptability to other surfaces puts him well below the likes of Nadal and Fed.
PS: There was opening at 15-30 for Troicki there to serve for the match. He'll have to hold to stay in the set now.
Tells you something about the level of modern tennis if such a player (as you described him) still maintains the No3 position in the world.

Yeah it does say a lot about the level of mens tennis right now if a guy like Djoko who's not won anything title of importance is absolute ages was world number two and above Federer just 3 weeks back.
He's not "bad" but he's just not performed to the levels expected of him. He and Murray both should have more Slams between them than they currently do. It's a bit sad that besides Nadal no one on the current tour can really beat Fed in slam finals.

To the Djokovic haters, he is a frustrating player to watch at times but he is a character, why wouldn't you like a player like that on the circuit? The lookalike videos, the spontaneous things he does with the crowd. I love that side of him, the mental blocks he has are what drives me crazy.
Beating Troicki after being down 2-1 was impressive, but he should have comfortably beaten him. He has a tough draw to the semi's this year, if he can get there people should respect that IMO.
I would say to be a #3 in the world would render you as better than 'not bad'.

Oh I really like Djokovich. I definitely don't hate him. He's a great entertainer and a great character as you said.
I definitely prefer him to Murray and Federer.
But that being said he's really been a let down since 08. And his fitness is really shocking. He struggles physically even in the 1st round of slams.
And I agree. He's got a shocker of a draw. It must be infuriating to be him and then see the kind of draw Federer has (same half as Djoko) and what he has.
Luckily for him though Roddick, who was in his quarter, is out.
He's not lived up to expectation is what I'm saying.
He has fitness problems, it's well documented, but he doesn't get any credit for his battling qualities. He infuriates me, dont get me wrong but at times he really does fight hard and that gets overlooked because of a couple of times when he quit a match because of fitness.
Anyway, I dont know what to expect from him these days, I would close on saying he is still capable of being #1 IMO.
I would agree. He should have had more than one slam by now, that said you look at his Grand Slam career, and he has reached the QF/SFs the majority of the time, therefore its hard to call that a failure.

Hmm sure he's pulled out a lot in the past and well he seems to have reduced and even stopped quitting games but yet everytime I watch him play he just does not look dominant. Was watching him at Wimbledon, Rolland Garros, Montreal, Cincinnati and he just looked exhausted during every match even early in the tournament. His fitness just seems to have become worse than before.
And yeah he is capable of getting up to number 1 at some point. With Federer in decline he can make the number 2 spot his own but to displace Nadal at the top he's going to need to start winning a lot of Masters series and atleast 1 or 2 more slams.

Indeed, unfortunately though I think this is something he cannot control. It's a shame because if it wasn't for this part of his game I feel he would be a lot more dominant and would have certainly registered more than one Grand Slam to his name.
There is certainly a gap for him there to do that.
Yeah fitness aside he's quite a good player. Maybe his breathing issues don't let him play as well as he can. It's a shame though.

I think he's better than 'quite good' mate.. Quite good doesn't win you a grand slam, and this is not just me being 'biased'.

Djokovic is blessed with talent but his fitness lets him down. It's just a fact of life, he can only complain to his parents that he was born so weak, haha. Shame he cant really do much about it. I cannot see how he can build it up, it's just the body and the lungs he has, that's it, make the best out of it.
I also believe he's very often aware of his lack of fitness which brings him down mentally. When you loose your strength your mental focus automatically fades as well. I bet he's sometimes thinking 'damn I wish I were as strong as Roddick or Murray'.

It looks pretty much the same to me. His serve at Wimbledon was brilliant though. However the courts are much faster here so his serve is looking better. It's still not really good enough to get him a lot of cheap points.
