US Open

I think Fed will win one or two more, he is still committed enough and talented enough, he just isnt at his peak anymore and his competition is or approaching theirs.

Have that you haters!

I didn't see the last 2 sets as I had to go, but I heard that the last set was something special. So proud of the guy, he gets so much stick for being a choker, this is a great result for him.

I don't think Nadal will rape him as people think, Nole on a hard court is a match for any player, not too mention he will be gunning for this Grand Slam as he missed out before.

I have always rated Djokovic, I dont think he is a choker at all, he is very inconsistent at this point in his career though.

They should have paused the tournament
Feel sorry for Vera. She's a really a fine player. She seems to have gotten her head sorted and showing her potential. Hopefully a slam winner soon.
Just hope she does not turn out to be another Safina. Good for a while, a couple of failed Slam finals and then just disappear.
I hope Djokovic battles and performs as well as he did today to make it an interesting match. I've been supporting Djokovic through the tournament so I hope he wins it, but Rafa's been immense and I think he'll canter to a straight set win.

Anybody know if he does win in straight sets, will he be the first to win a Slam without dropping a set in the tournament?

Nah. I think Fed has done it at one of the hard courts before and Nadal definitely has done it twice at the French Open. 2008 and 2010.
I don't think he's going to go through without dropping a set in the final though. Djoko's a much better player than the likes of Verdasco and Youzny.
He still is good enough to win slams IMO. Just that he'll also get beaten a lot too. I reckon he wants another Wimbledon to tie with his idol Sampras. I seriously hope he goes out at near the top.
Yeah he's still better than most of the players except Nadal and maybe Djoko and Berdych who on some occasions might trouble him.

He yet is a bit of choker tbh. He really should have won it in 3 or 4 sets last night. It's because he choked in the 1st and 3rd that it even got extended to 5 sets. But I was impressed by him yesterday. He showed real guts 4-5 in the 5th. Typically he would have lost his nerve over there.

Nervous about the final. On second thoughts, I would have preferred Fed in the final. Atleast I know Nadal would have beaten Fed :p

I think it'll be tight. Whoever wins,it'll probably be in 4.

can someone tell me when the US open final is, exactly?

how many hrs to go?

About 4 hours i think, 20:30GMT

2130 BST. So yeah that's in just under 4 hours from now.

2 IST

Think Nadal could well do this in straight sets, especially if Djokovic is as physically and mentally spent as he looked after last night, but playing it safe ill say he'll definitely win it in 4, his level of tennis has been a class above anything else in the mens draw this week he more than deserves the title after the way hes played this tournament.

On another note, who was the youngest man to win the carear grand slam?

Some Aussie(Laver?). Though I think he'll be the youngest to hold the career golden slam...

SSN reported Zvonareva made 244 unforced errors in the final yesterday

244?!

That's just not possible! That's equivalent to 61 games  Would be amazing if that ever happened

It was quite nice to hear Federer saying he hopes Nadal wins and completes his Career Grand Slam set.

Play has been suspended on all courts :nervous:

Rain?

Updated rankings:
Nole is over Fed again now thanks to his win last night. Soderling is just a 100 odd points from overtaking Murray into 4th now.

Del Po lost 2000 points and 24 ranking places due to just missing the USO

Shiteous news for Murray, there are about 2-3 indoor hardcourt tourneys coming up, and that's Soderling favorite surface, hopefully Soderling doesn't get the number 4 spot. A win for Nadal today would probably ensure year end number 1 for him even if he doesn't play and Federer wins everything(not happening) till year's end.

Hopefully the rain passes, Nadal would be pissed and Djokovic would be ecstatic if this went to Monday:lol:

Well they do expect the rain to go down in time for the match. The women's doubles match will be continued on Louis Armstrong instead of Ashe.
If this goes to Monday I think Djoko will have an even better chance!

Oh and yes if Nadal wins today he's going have almost double the points of the number 2 (Djoko) and that I think would be some kind of record.

Nadal's already gained points on this USO by advancing further than last year. A further 800 extra points if he wins :D

But yes I can see Murray sliding out of the top 4 if Sod wins a tournament.

Aargh. This is frustrating. Rain delays. I need to wake up in just over 4 hours and the match gets delayed

Stupid bloody New York. Does not rain all of the tournament and just one hour before the final it starts

Why on earth can't they just cover the courts here? Is it too expensive to purchase covers? Instead they'll be drying it after it stops raining

Proposed start of play: 10pm BST

Latest forecast says the rain will probably last till about 22:30GMT, so I guess factoring in how long it'll take them to dry the courts, warm up, play will probably start at 23:00GMT.

Every half hour they say the rain will last another half hour.
I'm off to sleep. Alarms set for 30 mins and 45 mins from now

Im doubting whether we'll see any play today/tonight, amazingly for the first time all tournament theres little to no wind when we actually bloody need it! typical American shit house weather, cant they just build a roof like wimbledon and spare us all this shit.

They can't afford covers for the court, hard to see how they could put up a bloody roof.

And well the match will start today at some point. There's a lot of time left for it to start US time. All tournament there's no rain and on the last bloody day it starts pouring.

Though it's clearing up a bit now. Hopefully it starts soon.

this may be the first night session men's final

Spanish TV has just said it's still raining and the forecast is for more rain. If this game starts chances are it'll be while I'm asleep. Bah, humbug.

You talk so much shit it's unbelievable.
