US Open Tennis

Good job Jankovic.

Now Serbia has a chance to have finalists in both men's and women's :)

Yeah nothing at all against her, just prefer Dementieva.

Hope she beats whoever she faces in the final, but she's a bit too passive for my liking.

She's the typical counter-puncher, keep sending the ball back to her opponent until they make the unforced error.

But I can understand though, we all like our women to be more pro-active in bed.. errm, i mean court. ;)

Serena a set and a break up in the second set.

Earlier, Serena smashed a shot straight at Safina at the net, and you can clearly see Safina mouthed "fecking bitch" as she walked back to the baseline.

To be fair, Serena did came forward and appeared apologetic, but just walked away.

match continues...

She is just as bad as him, if not worse. Her injuries are usually sincere though to be fair.

No injuries for Jelena this time though, but she did complained of fatigue a few rounds back when she was involved in a few 3 setters.

It seems tennis is such a 'boring' sport that the media simply needs a little bit of hype imo. All this crap about faking injuries is totally ridiculous and you could see it especially when the ESPN reporters were quick to judge Novak for faking a injury (against Robredo) when the replay clearly showed that he twisted his ankle. Obviously it made the ESPN guys look dumb because they were too quick to judge. But that's exactly whats happening, nobody really knows what actually happened but everybody's an expert on injuries all over sudden. Please!

I take it you follow Djokovic then Mihajlovic. I agree some of it is overhyped by the media such as your example but there is no doubt he has took a break at points in games to catch his wind in my opinion. I dont think there is much wrong with it anyway and it was also in the past. All the players are tired at this point in the season. In terms of Roddick's comments he said it was a joke and Djokovic has since stated he may have over reacted a bit. She has definitely had more problems than him in terms of moaning or injuries during matches, it is about time she reached a final.

I think Jelena's injuries were far more serious than Djokovic's, she had problems with her muscles, at the Olympics she constantly needed injections for her injured calf, she also has terrible knee problems, it looks to me as if her body is much more wrecked than that of some other players. I know it can get a bit annoying to watch them complaining but I guess they know best how much it really hurts.

I also think Roddick meant that more as a joke, Novak was a bit pissed off but later admited that it wasnt serious. I think Roddick is an absolutely cool guy, cant imagine him ever being vicious.

I love how the crowd booed Novak after the match, when he decided to call not only Roddick out but them as well. Ummmm feck off, you dont mess with NYC

Well fair enough I take it you follow them both more closely than me anyway.

She has had more serious problems and probably should have reached a grand slam final before this instead of the semi's. If she keeps free from injuries, she could win one considering what most of the women have to offer at the moment.

Yea thats true.

I find the WTA a bit bizarre anyway especially since Ivanovic for example became No1 only because Henin left the business, so there's always the feeling that she didnt deserve it really, winning only one grand slam. At the same time it's all quite interesting because I believe the top five are only separated by hundred points or something like that. The No1 position could change almost every couple of weeks.

If Serena and Venus had the desire to play as often as teh other girls they would be 1 and 2 by miles

If Fed is on form can't see past him for the Final. It will be interesting, he has looked better after winning Gold in Beijing but still not at as good as he used to be. Iam looking forward to which side of Fed we see, I wish he hadn't made so many mistakes though.

He went out very early to Blake in the olympics.

Anyone have any idea what the weather is like in Flushing Meadows?

Will play start on time?

Wow anyone else watching this? feck the international break. Some vintage Federer so far, his forehand and serve are on fire.

6-3

Best match in terms of quality so far in the Open. Fed needs to keep it up though, his first set stats were amazing.

1st serve %: 83%
Aces: 4
Winners: 13
UEs: 3
BP conversion: 1/1

7-5 Djokovic, didn't think could keep it up :( Missed a routine forehand to save set point.

1 set all. If it continues like this, I can see Djokovic winning this.

Djokovic is desperate to get the crowd back on his side, that can only explain the constant applause of federer's shots.

He always does that. He actually applauds his opponents more than any other player on the tour.
