US Open 2009 Flushing Meadows

Murray looks like such a prick on his ESPN profile pic they keep showing, reminds me of the Carrick modeling pics

Personally I think if Djokovic got his head out of his ass and worked hard he would be better than Murray

I dont know, somethings up with those serbs. Djokovic, Ivanovic, Jankovic. Burst on the scene like the next big thing but as soon as the going gets tough, they crumble.

Ivanovic looks way out of her league yet she was No. 1 less than two years ago. I went to see her upset loss in Toronto. Had a chance to close out the game and got broken and just fell to pieces. shame.

I would like to see Roddick win it he comes across as a top bloke and if not him then Federer, can't fecking stand Murray.

really? Outside the game he seems a good guy but I couldnt stand him from 2003 till 2008, believed in the hype and got so unbelievably cocky that he would argue ala John McEnroe to the point it got incredibly annoying. To his credit, in this years Wimbeldon he shut his mouth and is playing up to the potential people once saw in him.

A Nadal supporter here, I dont think he'll win though.

Murray has a very effective game but it is boring as hell to watch. It's too bad that Britain has waited so long for a contender and he plods around the court in between points like his dying. Also for a Brit to say he wants to win the US Open when nearly every other player in the world wants to win Wimbledon is just a joke. It's too bad Henman didn't quite do it as he was a better ambassador for the game imo.

You've clearly never watched some of the thrilling games he had in the last year then?

And he says he wants to win the US because he knows realistically thats his best chance.

Obviously, he is not the most naturally talented tennis players but his determination and drive helped him to a stage of where he is at, can't be a bad thing.

Well maybe I'm not to much of a tennis follower to be perfectly honest will just watch some of the mens game if it's on and the majors I just thought he took defeat well after the Wimbledon final and once saw him on Jonathan Ross where he came across very well.

In fairness to Murray his game translates better on hard court. Yes though, Wimbledon is the ultimate prize in tennis, especially if you are a Brit.

Well done to Murray made quick work of him

I saw him when he lost to Federer a few years back, too, and he was really gracious in defeat then as well.

He also hosted SNL and was pretty funny. I always thought he was a nice enough bloke!

He was a cocky twat, who has certainly become more humble and likable as the years have gone by and he was won little of note.

Do you not agree he is more talented though?

I think you'll find that all the greats who've won Wimbledon hold it in the highest regard. The home of tennis I believe John McEnroe called it.

I guess you'll never give Murray his due but at least you can see he's growing up.....and improving, the world number 2..

The rankings say he's world No. 2 but I'd say most people think he's the third best player.

Yeah I think that will curtail his career, Nadal probably could have been the best all time. On his game he is better than Federer on all courts, even grass.

This is the fifth day and they're still on the second round? The tournament referee needs the hairdryer treatment.

Interesting match going on now between Nadal and Kiefer, Nadal won 6 love in the first set but lost the second 3-2 Nadal, Kiefer serving

Is it just me or does Nadal look a bit gaunt

Haha Will Ferrell just did Ron Burgundy

"Sending it up to the McIntosh Brothers. Patrick and Jim"

Probably the US is his best chance. I have watched quite a few of Murray's matches and he is very good at what he does. I just don't happen to enjoy his style of play, but then I liked Edberg, Rafter and love Roger so to me Murray is boring.

Nadal is very good but to say he is better than Roger is just not so. They are very even but the contrasting style of play makes it interesting between them. People go on about Roger taking advantage of Rafa's injury, but Rafa took advantage last year when Roger had mono and back problems. Being able to win matches quickly and conserve energy is part of being a great player, and if Nadal's style of play curtails his career that's too bad.

Murray is a tad boring in terms of his style of play, but it is damn effective, dare I say he does more with less.
