US Masters 2015

Anyone watching Amen corner live at the moment? (i'm watching on Sky)

Poulter just had a ridiculous lie where the ball stopped about an inch from dropping in the bunker.

The amateur Gunn Yang is having an absolute nightmare, poor lad. I was just going to say he looks so miserable and is really struggling at 7 over and he goes and hits it in the water from the tee at 12.

Been watching since it came on.
Poulter had no chance chipping it, had to putt it.
He's struggling massively, just smashed the pin with his third after putting his tea shot in the water.

I'm watching the Bubba, Rose and Yang match. Rose is looking good

Stupid question but this has always bugged me. Take Augusta as an example but I.could work in theory for all other courses. Why is it that we dont get a average Joe who is a member at Augusta and plays it everyday of his life and knows the course inside out who you would think can go round it posting low scores compete in the masters. Is the level that the pros play at that so much higher?

The Masters is an invitational event, so there won't be many if any of these types of players involved. The other big events you need to qualify for, so it's still mostly just tour pros. The level of the top pros is incredible these days, so it's hard to imagine a course local being able to beat them.

It's nigh impossible to be a member of Augusta.
For other courses the difference between Pros and excellent amateurs is simply too great. The amateurs might break the club record with no crowd or to cameras etc.
Having said that, Rory shot 61 round portrush when he was 15. They could host a pro tournament on that course now and no one would get near the record.

Tiger has just played one of the best shots I've ever seen. A stupidly High fade through the trees when the only shot anyone else could see was a draw into the bunker. He put it to about 20 feet.

Spieth is playing wonderfully today. Els, rolling back the years...

I thought Els looked a decent punt at 200/1 considering his Open victory three years ago. I bet his odds have shrunk considerably now. I doubt he will win it as it's a tough ask, and quite often the older more experienced champs have good opening rounds and then tail off over the weekend or the final day. If anyone can do it though, The Big Easy certainly can.

What's happened to Tiger? He was genuinely on the way to being the greatest athlete of all time.

His aura started to go after Yang came from behind to beat him in the USPGA. Once he got caught cheating his head went and he took a long exile from golf. Since then a mix of injuries and a lack of actual tournament golf, combined with his mental strength deteriorating he is a shadow of what he was. If he does somehow manage to win another major this year, he will win another couple. Just needs proper confidence.

All things considered, I think Tiger should be reasonably satisfied with his performance.

I've got Els on ew but he won't last the weekend.
Got 30 on Speith at 14s which I feel good about.

Tiger has been disappointing but not surprising. He has struggled massively today but hit a couple of decent shots. He was very, very fortunate to get away with 1 over.

Had Day at 10/1 yesterday. Wish I'd put a place bet on Ernie...
I got Day at 12s, saw Ernie at huge odds but never thought to back him, don't think I'll be regretting it come Sunday, he'll trail off.

I loved Tiger today. Obviously he wasn't great but he was extremely entertaining and considering the circumstances, his score so far is very respectable. I really hope he makes the cut.

Rory can actually consider himself lucky to still be in contention imo. Did well to save a few of his pars. I'm not even sure if we'll see him surge up the field. He has the ability of course but he just doesn't seem to take advantage of the par 5's.

I don't think Rory will get back in contention. He's not playing well and the top players ahead of him are in great form.

Spieith made it look so easy today, happy Tiger isn't too far behind, he's looked agitated all day but hit some quality shots

Spieth in danger of running away with this now... Hoping Day or Rose does something now to keep it interesting.

I've got a decent stake on Speith so hoping he does run away with it!

Posted in the betting thread but Haas to win his three ball today should be a certainty. Crenshaw will shoots 85+ probably and Dufner is going through a divorce after finding his mrs in bed with another man. Price been hammered now though.

Fair play to the lad, he is playing some beautiful golf. I hope he starts cooling off or someone else starts catching up, Masters Sunday isn't the same when you know the winner before anyone has hit a ball.
