And a third place in a World Cup.
True while not a trophy. To lead Holland to one of their best world cup finishes with the weakest dutch squad in memory is an achievement in itself.
And a third place in a World Cup.
Absolutely. While it is absolutely fine to question LvG's decision, tactics and football style, I don't think there is any doubt the man is a proven winner and has achieved success in every club he has been to, though the ending has mostly been bitter. I am very optimistic LvG can make our team achieve something of note in his remaining two years.I could be wrong but it almost sounds like you want him to fail.
That's not true at all really. He managed Holland for 3 years before taking over United so i hope you are not taking those years into account because that would be silly, are you?
Before that he won the Double and almost the treble at Bayern, and won the dutch league at AZ a team that had only won their league once and hadn't won any trophy in almost 30 years.
3 trophies in 6 years with four of those years at a relatively small club like AZ is pretty impressive in my opinion.
4th place in the 13/14 season was 79 points. 4th place in the 14/15 season was 70 points. We ended up with 64 points in 13/14 which would have gotten us 5th place in the 14/15 season. In the context of the league, last season it was shit and we should have done much better. It's ok though, Moyes was Scottish and therefore a dinosaur, LVG is continental and can do no wrong.
Last season's LvG performance in general might be equivalent to Moyes overall but the big hope I have for LvG is due to the team's performance in big matches. We were rarely bullied last season and seem unlikely to be bullied again this season which was never the case for David Moyes. We got thumped by Liverpool, man city and it was pretty painful. We haven't had such painful days under LvG yet and that's why LvG has a bigger pedigree than David Moyes, not because he's continental and Moyes is Scottish.4th place in the 13/14 season was 79 points. 4th place in the 14/15 season was 70 points. I agree with this assessment somehow. There weren't many highlight RBs in the league last season and Valencia was pretty sound defensively while having few memorable forays forward including the nutmeg and assist against Liverpool. Plus he was last season working in much better tandem with Mata than Darmian had this season, though this might due to Herrera's role being limited in the side.Valencia was one of the best right backs in the league last year.
I am disgarding International things from him as I see that totally different from club football. Coming 3rd in the world cup is ok fair enough. But If Hodgson somehow managed that with England, would he be talked about like the Pro Van Gaal fans do?.I could be wrong but it almost sounds like you want him to fail.

The things he won at barca were along time ago and things can change massively after 1 season let alone 5. I dont think he is upto it anymore to be as successful as he once was. I would love for him to prove me wrong as he seems a right character in public.
Its just my opinion.

was the Supercup with bayern munich in 2010. Thats 5 years nearly 6 ago......
I hate that term deadwood it's so disrespectful to the players that actually cared about playing for United. Especially when it was used towards Rio, Vidic, Evra, Rafael and Hernandez.
That's because he's yet to kick a ball.£58 million isn't a big joke at all, because having to pay £58 million would mean that he's won the Ballon D'Or, league top scorer etc.
I agree that its not a great signing as things stand.
While new players are worshipped before they've kicked a ball for us. It's taken for granted they will be better than what we had.I hate that term deadwood it's so disrespectful to the players that actually cared about playing for United. Herrera - he's about 25% as good as people make out.
Young should be back up right back and not Valencia. Also Young should perhaps be given a chance to claim the spot ahead of the offensively incompetent Darmain.
I think it's because he wants to play the game at a higher tempo than the rest of the team, which is naturally endearing to most United fans. A good all rounder is an apt description. He has no outstanding quality but he is a good all rounder. Vastly overrated for some bizarre reason.

Feel quite sorry for Valdes, do want things to work out for him here.

Agreed.I have a hunch that he'll feature more as VG gains more confidence in the team and decides to increase the tempo later this season.
The French Zaha.We paid 36million quid for a 12 million quid player. In a few seasons he'll fall under the 'deadwood' category and this season, even at his age fans will be shocked to see just how low his standard is compared to the price we paid.
Glad you've made your mind up on him before seeing him play a game... Hell, just look at his games for Monaco and you'd see how wrong you areWe paid 36million quid for a 12 million quid player. We should get rid of Van Gaal and get in Klopp.

Agree with all three. I actually like Evans too. Can't believe people suggested offering Jones for Stones.
Just sounds like a convenient excuse really.Eh. LvG might just be prioritizing building attacks from the left and might have instructed right side to keep it tight and ticking.
But kudos for presenting unpopular opinions.
I've seen him play games, and I'm absolutely befuddled by how we could value him at 36million quid. The price will raise expectation amongst the masses and all that will come tumbling down when they actually see him play.Glad you've made your mind up on him before seeing him play a game... Someone needs to call mourinho and tell him last season title win doesn't count as success. Apparently he won only because everyone else were shit.
I can't remember the last time I ever agreed with one of your posts, if indeed I ever have.We paid 36million quid for a 12 million quid player. Like the idea but I would not get rid of LVG unless he's lost the dressing room because of his own fault, or if it was the only way to sign Klopp ie he's heading for City.We should get rid of Van Gaal and get in Klopp.
I'd rather see Valencia or Young on the right wing rather than Mata. Mata should be played through the middle behind the striker.
