Unpopular (AKA fickle) opinion time on AWB.....

99% of fans know that we need to drop the players that are not performing to standard, but the coaches and manager seem to ignore this. Bench them for a few weeks and they will come back stronger. Some need a good kick up the backside, and it's time the manager acted on this.

I'm not sure dropping people fits into Ole's philosophy of a positive dressing room. I just can't see him dropping a big name for a few games.

Nobody thought AWB was the finished product when we bought him. He's going to need another few seasons before he's the finished product.

130m wasted on 2 defenders and people say our transfers has gotten better.

Lamptey who was less than couple of millions is head and shoulders above this guy.

Already James and AWB look like deadwood. They are not bad players but we surely overpaid for both of them and Maguire too. Honestly, we should start scouting and look for their replacements (i m refering to James and AWB).

However knowing our transfer policy, i m afraid that James will stop be utilized by January and then we will demand his whole transfer fee, so noone will buy him and he will rot in our bench until his contract ends and AWB in 3 years time will be sold for 15 millions.

Lets hope that they improve.

But you can't keep playing men that are not performing to standard. You will keep dropping points.

To be fair, he did look like a winger playing as RB yesterday. His inexperience is starting to show, his positioning is suspected and he is not defending one on one he looks poor.

Thing is, he doesn't even offer what a winger should, he's so poor on the ball.

Basically we paid £50m for a player who's still very raw and needs a lot of coaching. Madness, really.

Although he was absolutely terrible yesterday, the worst game ive seen him play, I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt, as he was pretty good for the majority of last season which ended with him at fault for both goals against Sevilla knocking us out so his confidence might be shook. But he needs to be dropped if this form continues.

He is not fully fit. Based on last season, he definitely can perform to a much higher level. He was Mr You Shall Not Pass for quite a lot of our games last season.

Two points i have - is he drifting inside to cover Lindelof pace wise?

And second, where is the leader and organiser on the pitch telling him to get back out into his channel?

Then why he cost 50 million? i.e. one of the most expensive fullbacks in football history

Wes Brown provided an assist with his left foot in a Champions League Final, have some respect.

Believe I have a lot of respect for wes but the point is playing at right back wasn't even his natural position and was always second choice for that position behind neville and Rafael and yet he was still better both offensively and defensively than a player we spent 45-50 million pounds for.

I still think people are harsh by saying he was poor positionally. When we defend a lead we fetch on our defenders and put them as centrally as possible, this isn’t a new thing and it’s why Brighton were able to exploit it.
He didn’t have a great match, but it’s his first premier league start this season playing in a team that looks woefully unprepared.

He was excellent for a long time last season, so let's get those self appreciation 'i always knew he was rubbish' posts out the way. They're nonsense. He's never going to be Dani Alves going forward but defensively he has been excellent.

Still, since lockdown he's been a shadow of himself. I can only think it's a tactical change that he's not comfortable with. I wonder if we are asking him to attack and as a result he's got half an eye on starting a forward run and taking his eye off the player he's supposed to be marking. Quite a few goals now where he's let a player run behind him to score. I cant see that it's a fitness thing as it's not that he reacts slowly, he just doesn't look.

Why does he have to tuck in when we are playing 3 centre backs is beyond me , anyone blaming him for the 2nd goal is clueless .

My son plays right back , i paused the game at one stage to show why Wan Bissaka was tucking in and leaving March alone when I did pause it Brighton were on the attack at the Edge of the box (shaws side ) we had 5 players around 2 Brighton player ( Shaw , Lindleof , Maguire , Matic , Fred ) the positions of lindelof and Maguire was embarrassing. Literally nearly on top of each other

And I can show you a still of where wan bissaka was touch tight to Baily doing absolutely nothing in 6 yard box with a spare man behind him on back post

go on then, would be interesting to analyse why he did that

I think he put in a shocking performance at the weekend but I still rate him.
He's obviously knackered and out of form. But I'd back him to come good again.

There's a defender there doing absolutely nothing. But his name is not AWB

I totally agree and why they all shifted so far left all the time amazed me. I wasn’t on about the goal in my previous post.

that back post ball was on most of the game

I just don't get how you can keep on making that mistake, and why none of the other players are screaming his head off to get him to sort it out. I've never played in a team where repeat mistakes weren't pointed out straightaway and I've only played amateur football. What the feck are they doing?

Ffs just take him off. His fault for the corner for the 3rd, he is very lucky it was offside. He is fecking disgraceful tonight. £50m for a headless chicken.

The Wan Bissaka business is old news though. It probably doesn't need reinforcing because we know what he can do (tackle) and what he cannot do (everything else)

He gets a surprisingly easy ride considering how utterly limited he is going forward, and how completely atrocious he is at every aspect of defending bar making slide tackles.

You'd say it's surprising that we watched him and somehow decided he was a £50m player but it's not, it'd be surprising if we weren't the club dumb enough to fall for the completely misplaced hype.

He looks like someone who takes 5-6 secs to answer a simple question and then replies "huuuh?"

He comes across as a bit of dozy person/player.

Think I got him completely wrong. I thought he was a really good defender but he is so dozy and just gets caught out of position too often. Clearly we're not a well designed team defensively and he is clearly someone that needs simple and clear instructions, but I've lost all faith in him becoming a top defender.

Just bump it up when he plays shit and dont say shit when he plays well. Gets some assists aswell.

Oh well. Pointy finger time.

He’s been absolutely awful.

clearly doesn’t know how to play as a wing back.

Thought his passing was shit. No, his positioning is worse.

Tends to forget about the space behind him at times. Weird that he is playing for a club like United.

Biggest game of the season so far and he’s been embarassing.
