United's penalty-takers

Yeah chief, you've really gone out and observed loads of penalty shootouts haven't you, and tried to acurately predict where the left footed takers are going to place it, then counted up how many times you could read them and compared it with the same data from the right footers. You've actually gone and done that haven't you,and posted the results on the caf
Yes I have. That data is where my statement emanated from. I stated that earlier in the thread. You just refused to take that seriously. Thus, I don't see how me posting any concrete data related to that will make a difference to your stance. You'll just insist its cooked! Yet you expect me to answer a question to which you can find the answer yourself. Using the very simple methods I've used .

Nah, you're not just completely full of bullshit,
Rather you are just a total idiot. Trying to look clever over the internet when you are truly anything but. You've been proved a right fool in this thread already but you wont give up trying to look different. You need help.

You fecking lying bastard.
:lol:Coming from the brain dead human who had his stupid question answered yet still can't register that answer in his brain, that is really rich.

someone shrink that to 100x120 or 150x180 and stick it up on photobucket or somewhere and PM me the address and The Chief's got himself an avatar. I'd do it myself but I'm a lazy cnut. Well that and the firewall here in India won't let me anywhere near any photo hosting websites.

How many people need to hold an opinion before it beocmes fact? Because there are several thousand caf posters willing to back me up on the Sultan being mad as a hatter thing

We don't need to several thousand Caf posters to prove it. Just being in this thread proves it's a fact. :(

I'm not sure if several thousand qualifies it as a fact yet. If The Chief were to say he believed it however...

Now, that would be some quality admin job!

Chief's called me worse than mad, in the million page Hargreaves thread many times over.

He's cut me deep. :(

Typical. Another lame attempt to prove you are clever or witty or capable of making a valid or intelligent point. When you are not. When will you learn
Ciderman is clever, witty, valid and intelligent. I suspect that he is however frequently incapable so you might have one demi-fact in amongst the bullshit there Chief. A 10% success rates above average though isn't it. :smirk:

Ciderman is clever, witty, valid and intelligent.
 Like hell he is. He asks a question to which I provide a way to find the answer and he keeps going on and having a fit because allegedly haven't answered him. And that's witty and "clever, witty, valid and intelligent?

:lol:You are killing me here with laughter:lol::lol:

You alone know what on Earth you are on about.

Nope. But there's plenty fo stubborn cnuts on here who never back down (myself included :nervous:).

What makes the Chief really special is his willingness to occasionally leap in and adopt an opinion that is almost completely devoid of common sense, and defend this position with almost insane passion and vigour, even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Typical:rolleyes:

So left-footers aren't as good with penalties?

Based on your word...

When asked to back up your argument with an explanation you just told me to go back it up for you.

Hypothetical situation with regard to your logic, chief;

Scientist1: I've discovered time travel!
Scientist2: Really!? How?
Scientist1: I threw a million bananas at a goat and when i threw the millionth banana, a portal to the future opened!
Scientist2: You're an idiot
Scientist1: No i'm not! It's a fact i've discovered time travel!
Scientist2: Mate, that's not a fact, can you prove it?
Scientist1: Why should i prove it!? you go and throw a million bananas at a goat and you'll get the same results!
Scientist2: I'm not gonna do that am i?
Scientist1: Jesus! I've told you how to travel in time and you wont do it!
Scientist2: Because i'm not an idiot.
Scientist1: You've just made a complete fool out of yourself.
Scientist2: You didn't even throw the bananas did you? I mean, in reality?
Scientist1: Yes i did!
Scientist2: Then you're an idiot.

There is no laterality in the success ratios - left footed and right footed strikers have the same success when the frequencies are represented as percentages.

Based on a statistical analysis of all the penalties from the 2002 World Cup and Champions League.

There's lies, damned lies and statistics.
You wish. I bet that is pretty solid data. Which I second my self.

But if you want to be 100% certain there's only The Chief*

Oh, and Kemo of course.
Very funny:rolleyes:

Seriously though, i think it really is more down to the individual rather than if he is left or right footed.

Left footed players are rarer so how a keeper could think it is more predictable is hard to beleive. I could name a host of left footed dead ball specialists/penalty takers who prove that predictabilty or lack of penalty taking ability has anything to do with them being left footed.

Well theirs is a published academic paper, authored by a Welshman named M.Hughes no less. Not sparky unfortunately, just a sports expert from the University of Cardiff. Yours is a supposition by a reknowned internet nutjob.

I know I'm torn which one to believe.

Very funny:rolleyes:

Why, thankyou.

:lol:More lame attempts to make your position look better than it really is.:wenger:

I gave you the method how I came up with my assessment. You rejected it without even a try. Yet you still want me to provide you an answer. Based on what is the question. Especially when the method for finding out the difference between felt footed and right footed penalty taking is one you've rejected in the first place. As I said, you don't know when to stop making a complete fool of yourself.

I think you're onto something here. In the same way that facing a southpaw boxer can mess with your head, facing a left-footed penalty might put some keepers off.

So there might just be a reason why left-footed penalty takers are more succesful but I'm fecked if I can think why they might be any worse.

Rubberproof Rubber-proven Rubber-proved

1) Something which somebody states as fact, which in reality is false, but which without going to extraordinary lengths to disprove; remains a fact. typically spouted by Red Indian Chief Torn Rubber.

2) Bullshit

Yes, I can see how you came to that conclusion now Sultan.

After all, fact doesn't need to be supported by evidence, merely arguing your point to the death and occasionally insulting everyone can prove your point and make it FACT!

Me too. Torn.

Another classic thread. Since the Chief told Ciderman to go and do some homework I thought I'd have a quick look. This is probably just made up through right?

Palacios-Heurta (2003) -

"First, it will be shown that there is a perfect symmetry between left-footed and right-footed kickers. In fact, the hypothesis that the game is identical for left-footed and right-footed kickers, up to the appropriate renaming of the actions, will not be rejected."

"Data on 1417 penalty kicks have been collected during the period September 1995–June 2000 from professional games in Spain, Italy, England and other countries."

"As is clear, these two groups of kickers have different strong sides. Left-footed kickers shoot more often to the L.H.S. of the goalkeeper than to the R.H.S., whereas right-footed kickers shoot more often to the R.H.S. In the next section we will consider these to be their “natural sides” respectively, and choices will be renamed accordingly. Goalkeepers, in turn, tend to choose right more often than left when facing a right-footed kicker, and left more often than right when facing a left-footed kicker. Scoring rates are similar for the two player types for all penalties and for given score difference."

And just out of interest I found another journal paper which said that statistically penalties should always be taken in reverse order of ability.

Chief said:
Fergie has said on more than one occasion he bought Hargreaves to partner him in Carrick in a bid to mirror Milan's Gattuso-Pirlo axis

Meanwhile, next door in the Hargreaves thread our Chief refuses to provide a link for the above claim.

I reckon Fergie has never made such a ludicrous remark...

Most keepers are right-handed. So this means most lefties are shooting to the keepers "weaker" side. Further evidence that left-footed penalty-takers are, if anything, more likely to score than righties.
