United wages higher than Chelsea

Our wages are nearly the highest. We've won 3 of the last 5 titles. That sounds about right to me.

Is there a possibility that these Chelsea players are being paid in ways that cannot be determined as official? Wouldn't put that past Roman at all.

And people still complain about Glazers.

Saying that, I guess that the wages will go down a bit when Rio, Vidic, Evra, Giggs and hopefully Young and Valencia leaves.

Chelseas problem have always been (in the wealthy days) that they pay a bunch of wages for players who don't play for the club (on loan, kicked out, frozen out) but this has been reduced a lot in the last few years - which of course have helped them a lot

There'll be another season after this season ends. With players being sold and sent on loan.

So that's how it works...

Of course, same thing when Anderson, Bebe, Zaha, Powell and co return to United. Chelsea have a shitload more on loan I know.

That was my only point, if we take back our loanee's, we aren't adding a lot, Chelsea are, but the point of if they keep being loaned out every season or at least a good proportion, then granted the outlay is what it is.

I am not saying that he wasnt a mistake. I am merely saying what were the reasons why we may have signed him.

No doubt mate, no one can predict the future i was happy when we signed him as i liked him as a player, and if i remember rightly we had struggled to score from set pieces the season before, young had a good record from corners/freekicks so it made sense.

All i was questioning was what were we thinking from a financial point of view, even had young turned out to be a good player for us we would still be over paying in fee/wages in my opinion.

Apparently, we have some 500 employees, Chelsea have around 250, no wonder our wages are higher. And that just this year.

EDIT: Or not. Figures might not be correct.

EDIT2:

Chelsea FC Limited - 260 staff
Chelsea FC PLC - 629 staff

Thats true amazing how much the game has grown since the 80's.

Seeing as i got my projection wrong earlier with the average wage in 94 actually being around £10,000 per week. So 10k in 94 to 300k in 2014 thats nearly a 3000% increase.

We could be looking at players earning £9 million a week in 20 years which would be :wenger:

I think Im right in saying elite footballer salaries are still behind elite sports stars in USA and hollywood movie stars?

If the USA was able to genuinely fall in love with Football and somehow created the most prestigious domestic league in world football that attracted the worlds top players, we'd see increases in wages that were in line with movies and US sports like basketball and baseball.

I still think there is significant room for growth in football club income (and therefore in footballer salaries). Its why serious businessmen like the Glazers have bought into the top clubs.

Cantona was considred the king of the premier League on wages rumoured to be 30k GBP in 1994/95 and thats at the peak of his powers. And yet the likes of Pogba, Januzaj or Powell earn that before aged 20.

I thought the same mate, i posted earlier in the thread that i thought cantona was on £20k back then. But BarneyLFC found an article that stated Sutton was the first player in england to earn £10k in 1994. I found one that said similar. So i don't know if eric got that contract after that in 95 maybe.

I see some people have pointed out that some players on huge wages will be leaving but let's not forget that we'll be looking to replace them. And with all these talks of looking for World class to replace them then it'll increase our wage even more.

Also important to remember due to the fact we have player on 250k and even 300k in Rooney case and also being out of the CL, we'll have to pay insane amount of money to get world class players to play for us. One of the reasons it was a bad idea to put Rooney on 300k a week. It basically makes it that all the world class players we'll have to attract will want a considerable amount of money at least close to Rooney's wage.

So if everything goes according to what everyone is talking about(getting 2 or 3 World class players at least + 2 or 3 top players) then our wages figures will increase even further despite the release of old players such as Ferdinand, Giggs and co.
