United to sign Lukaku??

I wouldnt like to see the kid go myself, I think he's a class act and he's proving it at sunderland but if we were to go for him who else is there,

theres possibly owen as he's still finding it hard with injuries and he's done what was needed when required and it might be time for him to pack his bags

seriously caughtoffside is the worst so called website there is, tribal has nothing on them when it comes to making shit up.

They've linked every known football club to every known player at every conceivable price in their short but pointless existence.

Tribalfootball usually only collects stuff from other sites so

I don't see us signing a striker at all to be honest, do doubt very much this story will amount to anything, but if we did it wouldn't be Welbeck who made room. Owen is coming to the end of his deal and although there are definite benefits to having him around they will be surely be outweighed by anyone deemed good enough to bring in so in the unlikely event that we did bring someone new in I would imagine Owen would be the one to leave.

If not then it becomes between Welbeck and Kiko, and I think Kiko could benefit from a full season of regular football at another PL club. Maybe when we get Danny back next season Sunderland can take Kiko and give him the same chances? Either way, I see Danny Welbeck as a long term asset for the club and I'm very excited at the prospect.

You're right, I did forget about him. I don't quite have the same optimism about him as I do Welbeck and Macheda, but I'm by no means ready to right him off. We'll see how the remainder of his loan deal works out.

Manchester United are set to join the race to sign Belgian wonderkid Romelu Lukaku. Sir Alex Ferguson is hoping to beat a ever growing list of interested parties to clinch a deal to capture the Anderlecht teenager who is considered one of the hottest prospects in European football.

Lukaku looks set to leave the Belgian champions after they reportedly revealed that they are ready to listen to offers for the 17 year old striker. The powerfully built teenager will not come cheap though, with Anderlecht wanting at least €20m (£16.7m) for Romelu’s services.
The three bolded bits don't go together well.

Fergie.....17 yrs....£16.7m.....:nono:

Will end up at Chelsea as a long term Drog-replacement if he comes to England, though I'd love to see him at United.

Yea, not because he wants to go there or anything, or the fact we're overladen with young striking talent.

Just because "he looks like Drogba."

never heard of him and I think we have enough young strikers in at the moment.

And id rather see us put that kind of money towards new bodies for other parts of the team

Ideal signing in my opinion. I doubt we'll go for him though. But he is built for the PL and I think he could be a fantastic signing.

Well that's true. We have made a lot stranger signings that have baffled me before. Going for a player touted as a possible future top class player isn't something we do too often though.
I think it's very possible we'll go for him. For I still have doubts SAF has truly forgiven Rooney. Not to mention the fact there is no guarantee the likes of Welbeck wont suffer Evans current fate.

He is the type of player who could form a great partnership with Rooney. Buying him would be a great move in my opinion. I highly doubt we will lose any money on him either. Being so young, we would most likely earn a profit on him unless he turned out to be a complete dud.

I know people say that we have too many strikers as it is, but if we had a chance to bring in a young striker who is better than what we have, then personally I'd be completely in favour of it. If the likes of Macheda and Welbeck are good enough, then they will get through, regardless of who lies in their way. Personally I think that Lukaku has a lot more potential than the other two.

I don't know about more potential. But IMO he is way more ready than either to be a EPL first teamer right now. He will make a great signing for us, Chelsea or even Liverpool.

Agree Lukaku is in an entirely different category.
Scored a brace for Belgium the other day against Russia, the way he overpowered the CB on the second goal was impressive.
Not only is he a beast size-wise, but he's so quick, can finish with either foot, and very very strong in the air.
We do have some promising young strikers coming through from the Academy but nothing close to Lukaku.

gone from 9m to 16.7m in just 3 months... Just imagine what he will cost in the summer!

Time will tell. At the end of the day Lukaku is playing proper games and that makes a big difference
