United to sign Lukaku??

Is he an orphan?

He better not be

We are becoming worse than City.

If we were going to sign a young striker, this is who we should sign. He could become a brilliant player.

Some don't get it.This is what United mean by value.Farming young players.

Lukaku at £9m would be a very good piece of business, he could go on to become a top striker and has already proven himself at international level and in Europe.

Bit obvious people are basing their thoughts on a player on FM stats

Twats.

9M is a bargain for this lad. I have watched him quite a few times. His strength for a 17 year old is unmatched. His icon is Drogba and he will be miles ahead of what Drogba was at his prime by the time he reaches his prime.

Massive flop for me. Scored 4 goals in 30 games in his second season. Don't even get me started on his first.

how old was he when you played him in your first team?

21.

On topic; I doubt he'd want to come to us anyway. He has always idolised Drogba and has spoken to him personally, if anywhere he'd go to Chelsea imo.

Lukaku really looks like he could be one of the top players in the world in a few years. He already has a mix of everything needed to play at the top level he is a beast physically has huge pace is very strong in the air and can both link up play and play on the last man running in behind the defence. I hope he is managed properly and not burnt out as happens a lot of players who make an impression at a young age. He was called up and played for 20 mins for Belgium last night even though hes only returning from injury against Anderlechts advice. I really hope he doesnt join Chelsea but this looks likely at the moment.

I've watched him thousands of times. Admittedly as a tiny graphic on the 2d match player on FM

3 More Strikers before the window shuts and this squad is ready to compete for the next World Cup.

I think Fergie is taking the criticism aimed at him last season that we reply on Rooney too much a bit too far! Or maybe he thinks 11 Rooneys in the side is the way forward!

It's how we service the debt! We buy players, play them for half a season and then sell them with the "value added bonus of having played for us" thus earning a profit. Perfect :D

Your tactic is probably shit. He's scored over 100 goals for my Tottenham in the first three seasons.

Erm, no. Played Rooney basically the same way with a few minor adjustments and he got 61 goals in one season.

Hasn't he already said he wants to stay where he is for now to finish his schooling?

In his first season (bought him directly in FM10), he scored like 35+ goals in 25 games in the U18 team :D

sanogo got 38 for my U18 and reserve sides last season. Found some 15 year old french regen in my second summer and he has scored 21 goals at U18 level by November 1st, Sanogo was moved to my reserve side.

Have lukaku too, and he started fantastically for me - absolutely forced his way into my first team within a few weeks (hattrick on his debut) and scored something like 20 in 15, but he tailled off after that.

I would think £20m is a more realistic figure, but it's unlikely before next Summer. The story with him has always been to finish school first, and with another full season under his belt he'll command a bigger price.

It's hard to see United going for him even next Summer, having just signed 2 young strikers. But he's just made for the PL, he's even stronger than Drogba imo and very pacy.

Him and Rodwell next Summer would be very good business.

Manchester United Enter Race to Sign £16.7m Teenage Goal Machine | CaughtOffside
Manchester United are set to join the race to sign Belgian wonderkid Romelu Lukaku. Sir Alex Ferguson is hoping to beat a ever growing list of interested parties to clinch a deal to capture the Anderlecht teenager who is considered one of the hottest prospects in European football.

Lukaku looks set to leave the Belgian champions after they reportedly revealed that they are ready to listen to offers for the 17 year old striker. The powerfully built teenager will not come cheap though, with Anderlecht wanting at least €20m (£16.7m) for Romelu’s services.

Ferguson has been keen to bring in the best young talent from around the world to help supplement the talent coming through the Old Trafford Academy system and after bringing in the likes of Chris Smalling and Javier Hernandez in the summer the Man United boss hopes to snap up Lukaku either in January or more likely next summer.

The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have been heavily linked with the talented starlet who netted an impressive 19 goals in his debut season in the Anderlecht first team, helping Ariel Jacobs to clinch a domestic double in the process.

Ignoring the validity of the article; I'd absolutely love for us to sign him, will become an absolute beast, but I don't see where he'd fit and get any playing time, since we're not offloading Rooney nor Berba, and Chicharito looks like the real deal, and Welbeck performing very well at Sunderland.

And signing another striker for that kind of money with all the other positions in need of strengthening?
