United States, Mexico and Canada to host 2026 World Cup

Was tempted to go to this as a football fan but mental that we will now as Europeans likely be engaged in a war with America alongside our new Chinese comrades.

Not sure what's more concerning, that or the planned half time nonsense.

Come to Canada or go to Mexico instead. You’ll have a better time and your pound/euro will go much further.

My plan is to go to Dallas, Miami and Mexico City (in homage to Diego and his hand of God goal).

Other plan had been Vancouver / Seattle and another.

Whatever your plan is, I'd recommend you go to Mexico City. Super fun city, and I can only imagine the atmosphere will be incredible there for the WC.

Canada is more expensive than the US though?

Absolutely not, if we’re talking about the places in the US that people tend to visit. Your money is going to go further in Toronto, especially with the weak loonie, than New York, LA, Chicago, or Boston.

I don’t know about Mississippi and places like that. Never been, and I’d never go. They’re probably cheap as dirt, but so is Somalia.

My bet is that Trump demands the US hosts the entire think and FIFA caves because of rea$son$.
Yeah, I called this on this very thread a couple of months ago. All it takes is for Orange Man to find out that he's sharing a big event with his neighbours and he's gonna get FIFA to give it all to him and MAGA

Where do these delusional takes come from? Trump was involved with the joint bid during his first term, he's obviously well aware it's a US/Canada/Mexico event.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino has confirmed next year’s World Cup final will have a half-time show.

Can’t tell if serious or rage bait.

While I'm absolutely horrified and embarrassed by the state of our country, I must admit that my level of excitement for the US hosting much of this tournament is through the roof.

I was 10 years old when we had the tournament in '94; up until that point, watching football matches really wasn't widely available in the US unless you had cable, which we didn't. So the tournament was basically the first time I was able to watch professional football on TV. And of course hosting the tournament was what facilitated the creation of MLS, which was very exciting for us kids, especially because at the time I lived in one of the cities that got an original club.

For anyone who is planning on traveling to the US for the first time to see some matches, I highly recommend picking matches in Boston or Seattle; they are both wonderful cities with a lot of cool stuff to see, and the weather should be pretty comfortable. Boston, especially, is a wonderful city with a lot of cool history.

If you're planning on having a walk around town while you're here, just know that the weather in Atlanta, Miami, Houston, and Dallas will be miserable; the heat and humidity will be ungodly.

Seattle will make a lot of European's comfortable, it rains a lot there, :D but be warned it's very expensive there

I'm not confident based on some of the nonsense he's spouted lately, including a metric tonne of lies last night to congress, that Rumper is well aware of much of anything outside maybe that big mac sauce is basically just thousand islands with some beef bouillon. But then... does that guy know what bouillon is? Almost certainly not.

I’m a big fan of Atlanta and think it would be worth it despite the heat. Stadium is indoors, and lots to do in the city with a great food scene—I have recommendations for anyone interested. The Georgia Aquarium is also a great place to bring kids for those traveling with any. Miami is also a great time provided you have a lot of money to spend, and will be a great atmosphere for any Latin American teams playing there. And my God, so many beautiful women. Downside is the stadium being far away and the infamous murder train. Do not let yourself become its next meal.

Boston, I agree with. Great city. Seattle—never felt excited about that place personally in these days, but I suppose if there’s a time to travel there, then July is that time with the best weather in the year.

Everything is expensive in your stupid country.

Also, by Europeans, I think you mean the English (who are barely European anyway), the Germans and the French who live in the north of the country :smirk:

the fact that someone would actually try and claim mississippi and somalia are similar is just hilarious to anyone with even a small knowledge of US states. People love to shit on USA when our worst is nowhere near the worst in the world.

Plenty to criticize Trump on outside of the inventions of your imagination. You’re welcome to stay home if you’re that concerned.

July is quite sunny that time of year. And unlike mostly everywhere else here, will have relatively pleasant summer weather.

Yeah, the Brits will feel right at home in Seattle, at least as far as the weather goes.

I'm debating between Kansas City, Dallas, and Atlanta. I live in a smallish city and our airport only flies direct to like 10 cities, two of which are Dallas and Atlanta. Never been to Dallas. Atlanta is cool but the traffic is some of the worst in the country.

Kansas City will probably be the least chaotic of any of our host cities, but for me it means driving to O'Hare first. Of course, it'd be cool to go to a Royals game while I'm there.

My wife and I love aquariums, and we made a pit stop on a road trip to visit the Georgia Aquarium several years ago. It's truly magnificent. I think the Coca Cola Museum would be a hit with kids, too, because of the tasting room at the end of the tour. Get 'em good and sugared up before bed, you know?

Just back from London and this is decidedly not true (comparatively speaking), unless the statement was not comparative.

Jeez, can’t imagine flying into HJ during a World Cup, it’s busy enough as it is on random weekdays.

For diehards looking for the absolute best atmosphere away from the stadium, Boston and Philadelphia will be hard to beat particularly if Ireland/Scotland are involved, but if you care about stadium atmosphere, Miami and LA games that have South American teams will be the best spot for sure.

Do you watch the news? Or are you living in a parallel timeline? when have facts ever stopped that man?
The normalisation of the state of things by some people baffles me but sure, carry on. Or put me on ignore if you think I'm delusional.

You’re the one who invented a narrative out of your ass and are getting emotional and defensive after you got called out on it by something that was sourced in the news.

To paraphrase what Florida Man said, there's plenty to criticize without having to outright make shit up

1990 is the 1st World cup I remember, so 1994 I can remember all of it. Was a classic. I've been all over Europe watching United, but haven't been to America since 2007, so wanting to get back and personally think it will be a great World Cup and a perfect excuse to go.

As a Manchester native, the thought of disgusting hot and humid weather actually excites us with what we have to put up with here weather wise.

I'm wanting to do Dallas and Miami as I've never been. Seattle was on the list due to the stadium, have always loved the design
