United sign Jadon Sancho - Dortmund CEO Waltzing No More!

He refused to sign a new contract and asked to leave because he wanted to play. He was never gonna start at City at 17 with their team.

Can't blame City for him leaving.
I think it was more about there being no obvious path to the first team. They had/have a poor record of integrating youth and he wasn't taken on their pre-season tour that year either.

That in itself is the crux of the problem, and I'd say City deserve some derision for having such an approach to squad building. At 17 Rashford and Greenwood were playing for United. It's not unusual for supreme talents to be entrusted earlier than is typical in a young players development.

He looked class the other night despite propably not even being close to his best.

Can't wait to see him in red.

That's a ridiculous video. I also see he did those good things on the left side though i know he's equally good on the right as i have seen from him at Dortmund. Hudson Odoi was also in the video i believe, what a talent he is as well, he should also be playing regular first team football like Sancho now instead of just being on the renties subs bench
Yep, there was Hudson Odoi, foden, Angel Gomes and Haaland with some defensive contribution in that video! Still think Gomes has huge potential, just too small to make it at United. Hudson Odoi's big injury really harmed his development though.

I'm very excited to see him this season. United are becoming an exciting team to watch again and that helps with TV ratings and merch sales, which all translates to more money to spend. The next 5 years look very promising for Utd.

Okay now that nonsense has come to a satisfactory end lets get back to real football and get this lad to Carrington for his medical :D
Yeah I’m sure our two young players will be thrilled about missing penalties in a major final. Satisfactory.

Apparently there will be a massive can't-miss PR reveal video for Sancho too

Something for us all to look forward to, not to be missed really.

Through no fault of his own he probably won’t feel the joy of this move when it’s officially announced which is a real shame. Feck Southgate.

Our players always bounce back after the England summer shitshow scapegoating. Beckham after 98, Rooney after 2006.

Can't wait for him to tear up the league and everyone start asking (even more) why the feck did Southgate not play him more? One of the best young English players they've ever produced based on what he did on the pitch as a young guy (possibly the most productive young English player ever) and he was parked on the bench all tournament. Joke from Southgate.

Nothing against Saka or Mount as generally I think they're good but what exactly did they do to get in this team before Sancho (or Rashford)?

Saka is a wing-back, so you can play him in front but basically he can defend too.

England's game is basically have as many defensive players as possible. Their lineup today is basically 9 defenders and 2 forwards (Kane/Sterling).

It's startling how turtling their game was. It basically works against most weak teams because they can't break the turtle.

This. But no one is laughing at the joke. Southgate even saw what Sancho could do and still parked him for vastly inferior players like Mount and Saka. Imagine England attempting something like forward play with Sancho pulling the strings. Oh no, we can't have that.

England managers criminally misused/underused Scholes.

It's actually crazy though. Do you know how many players in the big European leagues, since 1990 if not before, have more league goals and assists before their 20th birthday? Just 1. Kylian Mbappe, with 1 more. Not Michael Owen, not Robbie Fowler, not Lio Messi, not Wayne Rooney. Jadon Sancho and Kylian Mbappe have statistically been the best/most productive u20 players in the past 30+ years. It's criminal misuse.

Bit shitty Dortmund have not publicly supported him @Sphaero ?

Obviously United can't yet but have backed Rashford and Arsenal have Saka.

Hurry up and get to OT mate. We will look at you :)

Have to say, him missing a penalty hasn't affected my opinion of him, which is still that I think that he is slightly overrated, but a really good buy. Especially now that it is about 4 million less than they demanded him last summer(which was ludicrous) .

Fat chance considering this is the same club that sarcastically wished a departing Mkhiraryan good luck in the Europa league and congratulating Gundogan for leaving the 8 time German champions to join 4th place city. Its safe to say they're not exactly brimming with gravitas. I'm surprised they haven't put out a sarcastic tweet about Sancho "bringing it home back home" or along those lines.

Didn't Southgate insinuate that bringing on Sancho and Rashford earlier could have resulted in England losing before pens? Oh the horror of bringing one of the best talents around today because maybe you could lose. You know Gareth, he could also win you the game!

Yeah small time club. Small club syndrome.

He’s a negative coach. Italy were all over them for 90 mins and he totally froze

I said it was an overly negative lineup and formation in the buildup and I was right.

No need for it. I hope he learns from it for Englands sake

Why do you have to say this? If missing a pen, especially after coming in from the cold, had affected your opinion of a player then you’d just be a weirdo

Maybe Southgate knows more about Sancho than you do.

You're kidding right? Did you watch the game last night? The one we lost in pathetic fashion? Southgate is as bang average as they come.

Sancho is one of the world's best young players and we sat him on the bench. Thankfully, Dortmund and Manchester United know better.

I mean I'm not saying I'm not a weirdo, though I'm off the opinion most people are weirdo's when you get to know them so there is nothing wrong with that ..... but the reason for the post was because assuming there would be a bit of backlash regarding the signing because of the miss, as that's the sort of reactionary world we live in, maybe there hasn't been and there was no need to say anything.

Hopefully Sancho goes off for a few weeks and just enjoys a short vacation before getting ready to play for United this season. Put the english penalty miss behind him, put the lack of trust from Southgate behind him and look forward to having Ole support him right from the start.
