United Open Talks With De Gea ?

Lloris is just another Ben Foster. Good shot stopper, poor at crosses.

Neuer would be my choice as in my opinion he's the best at handling crosses out of those who've been linked with us. Wouldn't be unhappy with De Gea though, good keeper and very young so has got a lot of time to improve.

Is De Gea really better than Lloris at handling crosses? I don't really want any of those two but I do suspect Lloris could be a better option than De Gea. I am unsure though. Both of those two will be very expensive. I agree with you that Neuer is a better man, I think Adler is a better man too, I want one of those two Germans. There is very little action from crosses into the box in Spain... Personally I think that crosses is likely to be De Gea's weakness too, he has no big testing at that in Spain. Few people have good data on how good his ability to handle crosses is. I also fear that De Gea vs Lindegaard can prove to be a even fight. That can turn out healthy and boost both their development, it can also lead to a unstable goalkeeping situation for a period of time. I want continuity at the goalkeeping spot.

De Gea is a little suspect on crosses like most keepers. He does a better job of it than Adler from what I've seen though (which is lots of De Gea, little of Adler). There are next to no young goalkeepers who are brilliant at dealing with crosses and pretty much no other league has the quality and quantity of crosses that the premier league has, so these foreign keepers are unlikely to be fully tested in the air until they are playing in the premier league against the sides most notable for their crossing and heading. And yet the most important aspect of a new keeper being first choice at United will be his competancy at being calm and dealing well with crosses. To this end Lindegaard might be given a chance at being first choice if, when he does play, he does a good job dealing with crosses regardless of whether he's as good a shot stopper as all the fancy names that have been mentioned in the last couple of seasons.

Only a few days ago he was saying that if United came in for him he would find it hard to resist, so i guess this story will keep on revolving for a good few months...
