Umaro Embalo

Benfica B is a professional team in the second division of Portugal. This lad is 16. There's the reason he hasn't played for them.

Yeah but then how can one justify paying 20m pounds for him?

He is so good that 20m pounds is easily worth it but then he is not good enough for Benfica's B team in the 2nd league. Can't have it both ways imo.

I'm not saying he is worth that, but it sure as hell does not work like that for a 16 year old.

Given the asking price for talent that's 'near proven,' is in excess of 100m,I would say that 20m isn't a risk but economic sense for a 16 year old

Given that most of the best 16 year olds in Europe move for free or minimal tribunal fees then it makes no economic sense at all.

You just have to look at someone like Bojan who has to be one of the greatest youth players of all time and additionally was killing it in the Spanish third division at Embalo's age, not sitting on the bench for the u19s. Now he is being loaned out by Stoke.

That was before Mbappe changed everything

There are loads really. Patrick Roberts looked immensely talented at U17s level but looks like not living up to his potential. Bojan was immense at youth level in Spain, think he holds all sorts of scoring records. I remember the buzz when he made his first few senior starts. There was a lot of expectation that he could match Messi’s impact.
