Umaro Embalo

Don't know if this transfer is yet confirmed, but have read that he is one of the top Portuguese talents. A fast, tricky winger capable of playing on both the wings. Real Madrid were seriously monitoring him, guy has been more hyped than Puigmal and Chong.

Out of the three, only Embalo has a football name. Pulgmal? Nah.

Compared with the ones you have in your academy will be very suprised if he will not be the best player there...

And judging players by videos or best players in the world or ages is pointless.

We don't have any 16 year old players with his level of reputation at least.

I have to make a small correction. Maybe unfair to compare him with the entire academy, better compare him with the 2001 generation. Keeping in mind we are talking about potential, development and transition to professional football is another level of discussion.
It is amazing when people treat youtube scouting as a science.
Of course professional scouts don't scout anyone based on youtube. :)
Well I’m not going to go to Portugal watch an U16s match or whatever so videos are all I have. If later, I see something else, I will say something else - but for now, I’m not that impressed.
I didn't said you had to go to Portugal, just said you can't judge potential based on youtube videos.

Funny, in that scout nation video it says his weakness is "not ambidextrious" but in the opening 4/5 goals he uses his left / right foot many times.

My judgement was hardly definitive, and I of course accept that there is massive room for me to be corrected. I don’t pretend to be an expert on him at all, and those that know more reportedly think he’s amazing, so I’m sure he’s better than he looks to me.

No problem, none of us here can predict the future, that's why you have professional souts in your club for that matter. And we don't know if he will stay at Benfica or if he will go to United, Real Madrid, etc.

Great, Jose is not going to stay for many years, we should find some managers that will give youth a chance, we have many crazy attacking talents at our disposal. Umaro is like hybrid of Ronaldo-Bale, Gomes is similar to Iniesta type, Gribbin is an Ozil type and so on. Sarri would be my first choice to hire him to develop their talent when they get promoted to the squad.

Good name, even better agent. Just another hype made in seixal.

Luis Felipe Vieira on BTV interview -> "Umaro Embalo and Joao Carvalho aren't being negotiated and will stay."

Record are bad.
If you mean the newspaper, well, lets say portuguese football newspapers are highly speculative to say the least, also in Spain, Italy or Greece I guess.

Apparently the deal is not dead (or done) yet. His agent told A Bola:
“Nothing is done, and the conversation, nobody communicated anything to me, nor to the parents. He has interest from several clubs, because he is an asset of Benfica and has gone down this route well.
“I can say that all the great clubs in Europe have already asked for information about Umaro, from Germany, England, Spain, France.

If he’s going to Manchester is something that I don’t know at all, but it’s true that we have already met with Benfica and Manchester, there is no agreement, but there are conversations.”

Am I the only person who never gets excited about news like this?

Im not a negative person and if true then great, young talent always welcome.

But thats just it, 'young talent'. The amount of times ive seen young talent being bought up early only to find they never get a game or a proper run of games is as long as my c*ck (and my Mrs didnt marry me for my money! ;-)
It winds me up that time and time again you hear these stories, a club like us buys 'the next Pele' and they disappear into the ether, never to be seen again

I always believe if youre good enough then youre old enough. Feck the age, throw these talents in more often to blood them and see how good they are.

Southgate will do this with England, throw youngsters in and let them have no fear and use their energy. But i guarantee that once the WC comes around it will be the same.old excuses...go with experience..blah blah blah...forgetting that you dont get experience without actually being thrown in at the deep end. We're not going to win the WC anyway so why not just go with youth and throw a curve ball in. Look at Joe Hart, useless kunt with an ego to match and yet the young keeper who played against Germany friday was much better than Hart in every respect.

Sorry, i know ive gone off topic a bit but it just winds me up when we buy talented youngsters and never play them.

Rant over.

What you want us to play 16 year old kids? They clearly aren't ready and there is no problem with that.

@United Pro It's a Bild story. A Bola quoted Bild on this.

RB Leipzig have caused a lot of controversy in German Football for poaching players especially when they signed Elias Abouchabaka. Also it would be interesting if they plan on Umaro Embalo to start with RB Leipzig since they usually have young players they sign start with Red Bull Salzburg.

Did you not hear what Real paid for a 16 year old? €13m is a snip in comparison.
To be fair, Have you seen Vinicius Jr play? ridiculously talented player, i cant even imagine how the media would act

Nope, point still stands that Real paid €45m for a youth player (don't think he played a game at the time) that at 16, could go either way in terms of development.

Embalo actually scored a hattrick against Vinicius Jrs Brazil side while playing up an age group last year
