If the exit poll was correct, could have a lot of UKIP voters who maybe went back to the Tories in the end.

Probably the SNP factor coming in to play. I think think the 'fear the SNP - Labour coalition' rhetoric that Conservatives were espousing would have been especially resonant in some of the more working class seats in Essex and Kent that were veering to UKIP.

No matter who wins, it will probably directly affect about 2% of people reading this thread in a significant way.

Yeah, it seems to have worked amazingly well for them.

In the end, Labour's somewhat misguided "Vote SNP, get Tories" line is looking quite prescient.

What would happen if the PM didn't win his own seat? Has that ever happened?

Looks like I'm staying up late tonight.

Off to Co-op to stock up on some snacks.

In fairness based on the current exit poll if labour had won every seat the SNP is predicted to they would still have done rubbish and be trailing the tories
Big fail from ed milliband... Time for a new labour leader

He loses his position as head of party and someone else takes over, probably by vote.

Hopefully someone with (at least) the veneer of working class sensibilities about him/her.

I still can't get my head around that exit poll. How is it possible that so many people would vote for more of the same? Everyone here is miserable and moaning all the time!

But you've got to take into account the Tory "propped up by the SNP" line, which quite possibly could've been a large factor in depressing Labour's vote in marginals. But still yeah if it's true, shocking.

Ed should probably declare about now.

I'd love to see that happen one day, would be hilarious

Who is this prick in the pink t-shirt?

What's notable here in the 3 Sunderland consistuencies is that the Greens are consistently just beating out the Lib Dems for 4th place.

Even Election Result Announcements aren't safe from the 'I must film this on my mobile phone' wankers.

The bloke in the pink t shirt taking selfies as the results are read out
