Ed did well to thwart the horrible bias of Paxo and Frau Blücher.

I take it you don't know anything about Andrew Neil.
I was talking about him in the Westminster thread earlier today. He was brutal with Con, Lab and Lib MPs on the politics show today. You would never have known he briefly worked for the Tories years ago watching it.
You would think he has a pathological hatred of MPs and bluster though.

I thought Ed won that. Cameron certainly a lot more comfortable in slickly managing to avoid questions but I think many people can see through that.

I'm probably one of the few who didn't like Paxman on the BBC. Every interview was about him proving he was cleverer that his interviewee, rather than finding out what that person really had to say, and, the key thing, then letting people make their own minds up.
Endless pointings-out of people 'not answering the question' are just tedious and an insult to the viewer, let us decide that, not you.

Yep. If that was an accurate portrayal of their respective personal support Labour would walk the election.
Thank god it isn't then. I see Ed's cuts on police spending not probed, but Cameron was teed up with a pissed brummie cop.

He's much the same on Uni Challenge.

I was surprised the police spending was ignored for Ed. Paxman sticking to his plan a bit too much. It was something that he should've been asked to elaborate on, if only briefly.

Was Paxo that biased really though? Missed most of the Cameron-Pax bit watching Bunting v Anderson and MVG v RVB. Seemed a rough start though and people saying Paxo was eye-rolling at him. Admittedly he got overly personal with Ed.

I guess one problem is they cover so much ground it all ends up somewhat superficial.

Well, mate, it did seem almost pointlessly personal, as the point about Miliband apparently being 'awkward' was emphasised again and again.

Overly personal with Ed (much like the audience), but I thought he was fairly level between them. Burley was appallingly inconsistent though.

Very much so. However after the thing when interviewing she was saying Ed did excellent and was impressed. Very odd.

I guess he equally hammered home the point about Cameron having rich mates. Am sure millionaire Paxo hangs out with those down at heel all the time...

Missed nearly all of her segments, but overall from what I did see neither was given an easy ride. With Cameron you can dredge up what was promised and what happened. With Ed it was more a few of his bad predictions, manifesto costings and personal.
Paxo should've dwelled on Ed's amazing past energy policies more. Hate his man of the people shtick as a minted serial bureaucrat.
Who are you voting for Jips?
My constituency was gerrymandered a few years back which took us from safe Tory seat to Labour. I actually think the Labour MP -Andy Slaughter- is a decent guy but was annoying.
My red loyalties begin and end at football.

Thought Ed was great. He was also brilliant on the BBC three Free Speech programme, where he was grilled by young people. The questions were, at times, incredibly insulting there, yet he hit back hard.

On today's 'debate', thought cameron got a very easy ride from the audience and he basically turned it into some sort of tory PR event. I was surprised that they were so easy on him. Against Paxo, he was slimey, sweating and generally incredibly unconvincing. Ed got a much much harder go of it - the audience were personal, insulting and generally quite hard. Yet he, as he did in the bbc 3 debate, came back strong and unwavering.

None of this matters though as the elections are ages away. Look forward to next week's 7-way debate, which will inevitably be an absolute farce.

I thought Ed was crap and Cameron good.

Ed had it harder though,

Andy Slaughter's a good MP, I hope he gets reelected. I lived in Hammersmith until pretty recently.

Yep he actually emailed the council for us, helping massively speed up the resolution we were got with them about a burst drainpipe. Pain H&F council is freeholder for half the area.
Greg Hands was a bright chap before him. Whereabouts did you live?

Lived on Hammersmith Grove, near The Grove pub.

No way! We lived at flat 4, 180 Hammersmith Grove til we bought off Blythe Road four years ago. We rented there for seven years.
Went to the docs at Richford Gate a couple of weeks ago and walked back to the tube. fecking great glass office block where the NCP car park used to be at the top of the road now. All change round there.

Glad Ed's apparently managed to come over well and demonstrated he's actually decent at engaging people. Thought Jim Murphy was good value on Question Time as well.

Neil has just pointed out that neither Cameron nor Osbourne has allowed Neil to interview them in eight years.

Why the BBC haven't made more of this I don't know, unless I've just missed it, but it's quite astonishing considering Neil is their chief (and best) political questioner. Far from being pro-left, they seem to have been content to let both of them get away with it.

That is pretty staggering. Dunno why Neil tends to do the 'secondary' political shows. Andrew Marr used to do the sunday one for example that had bigger names on it. Neil is brilliant.

I'm on Blythe Road! Also an Andy Slaughter constituent

Not another one! Whereabouts are you? Lakeside.

Opposite the junction with Sterndale Road, near the string of shops like Betty Blythe, Pentolina etc.

We're just renting the flat but have been here for nearly 3 years now. It's a brilliant area.

That's just round the corner. Went to Pentolina for the first time last month and was impressed.
Yep is a good area.

Yeah it's not bad. The Indian further down (Karma) is great too if you haven't tried it.

Had takeaway from there and it is nice. There's plenty of decent places nearby, eg the chippie next to Brook Green Hotel, the Thai place Rice and the Ethiopian down Goldhawk Road. Red Planet takeaway pizza too.
