All down to Jeremy Corbyn. Anyone with half a brain can see how weak and uninspiring he is. Losing 70 seats to a moron like Boris Johnson takes some doing.

Said it before, all down to Labour's incredibly flawed leadership election process.

No, it's down to the people who voted for Boris and co.

On the positive note at least the Tory opposition have 5 years to get their house in order, whilst Boris & chums have no where to hide and all their lies & false promises come back to haunt them. Could well be the death of the Tory party in the long term.

Party gets their biggest majority after imposing a decade of austerity.

I don't understand how anyone can defend them. You can all the voters idiots and all that, but Labour clearly failed to connect with voters and it shows.

They need to reshape the party and rebuil.
Brexit empowered people who have clearly shown they can't be trusted with a vote, and it's separated the country in to right wing vs 'lefties', which has now, in my opinion, ended up with them wanting to stick it to lefty Corbyn supporters, as well as get their precious Brexit, even though it's an absolute shitfest.

I honestly cannot believe all that after 10 years of cuts, cuts, cuts and some of the most lying and deceiving people running the Tories people vote them in. I honestly think people should be tested to vote.
Brexit, there's a weird fixation with it. It doesn't help that opposition parties were doing the upmost to stop it which entrenched the right wing brexiteers even more.

Horrible news but sadly not too unexpected. A few people on here must have been blown out of their echo chamber. If you dared suggest Corbyn was a dim-witted, baggage laden mediocrity, you had your head bitten off and were told to educate yourself by reading Chomsky.

That won't change and neither will Labour.

All the while the same excuses will be made over and over whilst the country slides further into the mire.

The Tories won't die, they're the cockroaches in the nuclear holocaust.

Gutted.
Silver lining is that the tories have no excuses now. We go again in 2024 with a cleaner slate and hopefully a smarter campaign.

IF the exit poll is correct, it would seem that the LEAVE support has strengthened even further.

Which would mean its time for Remainers like me to accept properly accept defeat and get on the Brexit bus.

I’d have strangled Priti Patel if I’d have been in her presence tonight.

No idea why she’s so smug, her and Javid will be our on their arse in the first reshuffle. The positive discrimination is no longer necessary.

Hasn't happened for the last 10 years they've ran the country. As long as the media is in their backpocket, they'll never be held accoutable

Not for me. I won't accept it til there's some credibility to it all. Certainly not just because of certain people in this shitty country thinking (or not) that it's a good idea.

Hopefully mate.

I really would love to get out and about in Conservative heartlands and see how these people live and who they are. They obviously live in an alternate reality to me.
