UEFA Champions League Round of 16 - 4/3/25 - 12/3/25

Should be easy tonight, only players we're missing are, Gernot Trauner, Bart Nieuwkoop, Ramiz Zerrouki, Quinten Timber, Hwang In-beom, Antoni Milambo, Calvin Stengs, Facundo González, Jordan Lotomba, Chris-Kévin Nadje, Justin Bijlow, Oussama Targhalline, Quilindschy Hartman and Stéphano Carrillo.

This is fine.

The entire squad got food poisoning?

The entire squad got food poisoning?
12 injures and 3 who aren't eligible for CL. And no, all these injuries are seperate.

Last year we had almost no injuries, but that bald cnut took our fitness coach to Liverpool with him.

Was your fitness coach Jesus?

In any case, there's zero pressure on whoever plays. Crazy things have happened in this competition.

Yeah, especially to us. Drawing 3-3 at the Etihad while being 3-0 down in the 70th minute. Beating Bayern 3-0. Winning at Benfica which no Dutch club had done in over 50 years and knocking out Milan in San Siro while missing 7 of our first 11.

We will go out proud no matter what happens.

Is this blasphemy?

You miss the suspended Read

Should Arsenal just concentrate on the CL now? Rest players in the league ahead of CL games.
Not sure about resting players in league (maybe to extent) but CL should become a priority for them now definitely. Liverpool will go 16 points clear after they beat Southampton on Saturday (having played 2 more games of course). Even if Arsenal beat us and Chelsea it'll still be 10 points difference. If they fail to win both of those games then it's completely over and it becomes all about Champions League for them, no doubt.

Good thing for Arsenal is they have good defence and don't concede many goals which could be really important in CL. Already in quarters and potentially both Saka and Martinelli could be back by then.

How's he doing? I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic :o
Only coached 1 game so far, which was a poor result, but not really on him since we miss almost our entire starting squad.

I just don't think he's ready.

Lille impressed me, especially playing out of the back. Alexsandro (cb) & 17 year-old Bouaddi (cm) were very good. Might upset Dortmund in the return leg, who ran out of steam in the second half.

Heerenveen won 3-1 from AZ this weekend. RVP lost to Heerenveen with 9-1. The players gave the interim manager a guard of honor after the match. It was all a bit cringe but tells you something how they feel in Heerenveen right now.

So they don't miss him much?

I knew it, you're Louis van Gaal!

9 goals so far in 23 matches? That's shaping up for around 13 goals again, maybe one or two more. That's nothing special in my opinion and far below his two good seasons.
He’s coming off the bench mostly. 9 goals in 9+14, a goal every 107,22 minutes.

If you say he had a good goal scoring season last season where he scored every 108,39 minutes, then it doesn’t make any sense to say that he isn’t having a good goal scoring season this season, where he scores more frequently.

You see I don't think a player has a good season who isn't a starter. These numbers are fine for a young talent who is establishing himself, but not for a player in his prime years.

Marcus Thuram available on a free? Nah, we'll get Weghorst on loan in January. Guirassy for €15m? Nah, too cheap - we need a non goalscoring striker in Zirkzee instead.

nice goal by Thuram...close by Lautaro now, lacked a bit more of effect that one.

Feyenoord was doing good given the injuries and all. They were controlling the game
