UEFA Champions League Round of 16 - 4/3/25 - 12/3/25

For someone who is highly rated as a GK, Oblak isn’t great at pens.

Taking them? Because he's saved a fair few between the sticks. Not his fault his teammates double kick it and don't score any in the most recent shootouts you remember.

Double taps from slipping should be allowed. How has Alvarez gained any type of advantage?

I remember a Palermo goal once allowed.

Anyway there are some vids that doesn't look like he even touches the ball with his other foot, it must have been a very tiny touch if VAR called it

To knock Real Madrid out the CL you basically have to batter them. You need to be 3 or 4 goals ahead with 20 minutes of the tie left.

If it's close and it could go either way you're fecked. They'll get some fluke goal or a wonder goal from nowhere or they'll get a dodgy decision go their way. It happens every year.

I think Barca is the only side that really understands that, has to kick us proper while we are down.

Real Madrid have eliminated Atletico de Madrid in one round of 16, quarterfinals, two semifinals and beaten them in two Champions League finals.

Either way - Alvarez being the one to get hosed like that after playing a superb game was pretty much expected. Footie is cruel and punishes immediately. Unless you're Real.

Indeed, also adding a great first game too, it's just typical

Today someone woudl die after some Pupas jab haha, increidble that they didn't win at least one of those

Also: I love Fede Valverde. What a player.
My favorite player in your current squad. Great player on multiple positions, always running and fighting till the end.

And its nice for once to not see that cnut of a right back Carvajal

I think there may be sensors on the ball for the automated offside so maybe that would tell them easily if there were two points of contact.

Chelsea just casually turned them over a few years ago. But that did include playing them at their training ground and in front of no fans at home.

The commentator even said his record isn’t that great at saving them.

Well... his save percentage is in the low 20%'s - comparable to that of Emi Martinez and Jordan Pickford.... but substantially lower than Donnurumma.

So what are we expecting here?

What a load of shite. Ref nearly had a hard on indicating that the goal was being chalked off.

And I'm very sceptical that VaR would have intervened had a Real player took that very same pen.

The thing is I think Arsenal could stifle Real Madrid and will be a tough game for them, their issue is low score draws and not getting wins in the league but in a cup competition that’s not as big of a problem. But you just know even if they play really well they really lack elite Champions League knockout experience and if it’s any way close with time left you could see Madrid scoring/winning. Batter them for 85 minutes and then Modric scores a 40 yard trivela, followed by a 98th minute three-way deflected goal which Raya lets through his legs.

Yeah but we were running on fumes by that point. Don’t count! :p

They also had the corpse of Sergio Ramos playing in the 2nd leg. We battered them that night. Should really have been 5-0.

Exclusive image of the VAR room, clearly showing the double touch

So the first time we hear of sensors in the ball, is when RM are in danger of going out of the CL and there's no conclusive video proof. You almost couldn't make it up.

Always feel good denying Atletico in UCL.

That said, i don't see any kind of double touch, and i don't think anybody else really does either.

Athletico scored after 30 seconds. They had great chance to kill us. Instead they decided to defend with all 11 players and parked the bus.

If Simione for once chased the win maybe he do win.

Yep. From their perspective, there's no harm in finding a small amount of optimism from somewhere.
What's wrong with my post?

I said we would lose to both but with Madrid we have an outside chance.

Ie we are not favourites

And we will likely lose

How is that unreasonable?

I do not see it either, so I really feel bad for them.

Having said this, I do not see atoms. But they are there. Science tells us they are there.

PS. Obviously it is all a joke. I don't feel bad for them.

I can understand why Arsenal fans would prefer Real Madrid over Atletico in the next round. They're a ballache to break down. Feels like they'll find more gaps vs Madrid.
You literally laughed at my post for making the same point even though I was even more cynical

What game did you watch? very far from that. Yet indeed they should have finish better some of their chances, specially the Correa and Sorloth ones
