UEFA Champions League Round of 16 - 4/3/25 - 12/3/25

The pain on the faces of those Atleti fans... the amount of scar tissue they have accumulated against Real in that competition is wild. Have to feel for them.

They showed it from the 'keepers POV on my stream and it 100% hits his standing leg.

No way you keep up with the intensity Real bring, the tie will be over after the first leg.
Possibly but we still have the second best defense in Europe and Mbappe is Saliba's b*tch (hat trick incoming).

Certainly cannot see even the slightest movement of the ball before his right foot strike
I think it's more he kicks it onto his left foot, it barely affects anything but it's still a double touch. Shocking to rule it out though, it's not like it made a bean of difference to the outcome of the pen, but thems the rules. Problem is it's so damn faint of a touch and, well, it's Real, so the stink is going to be around for a while.

Certainly looks like it from that angle, plus the way the ball span and went high also makes it look like it deflected off his standing foot.

100%, could see it in real time also.
Possibly my eyes or the crap resolution but I can't really see it. Maybe, in the first angle you can see the ball rotate clockwise a fraction?
Look at the trajection and pace on the ball, it kind of zips after hitting his foot.

He hits the ball with his right foot and the ball hits his left foot and rises a little.

On the US Paramount+ channel they also explained that VAR has multiple high resolution cameras, and also software that shows where the ball was touched. It is not just what we see on TV, they have more tools.

No question about this. He slipped and it was double touch, it was correct to overturn it.

I'm still waiting for a decisively clear replay of Alvarez's double touch penalty, UEFA better release the footage.

To knock Real Madrid out the CL you basically have to batter them. You need to be 3 or 4 goals ahead with 20 minutes of the tie left.

If it's close and it could go either way you're fecked. They'll get some fluke goal or a wonder goal from nowhere or they'll get a dodgy decision go their way. It happens every year.

You can't see it directly from the angle, but if you look at where his left foot is in the frame before he strikes the ball, I think the ball has to have hit his left after he's struck it, it can't really go anywhere else.

Would also explain the trajectory of the shot not lining up with how he's striking it, even off balance.
