All kick off times are in CEST. For BST time, subtract one hour.

PSV are in cracking form. They won 0-7 last weekend (biggest away win ever) and the new Mexican midfielder they bought (Guti) had an amazing debut. Mark van Bommel has really put down a great time.

They ain't shite compared to Barca, but confidence is brimming in Eindhoven. If they manage to hold them of for 20 minutes, they could make something happen I feel.

Or, they will just get destroyed 5-0, I dunno.

Is it ethical to beat Young Boys?:p

Getting really cocky with bad puns, hopefully it doesn't blow up in our faces...
My ethics are non-existant so giving it to Young Boys will make me happy.

Yeah, it's too hard not to make jokes about their name tbh.

Wait what the feck, why are some of the games so early. I can't watch either of the Dutch teams live now.

Obviously it's to get more people to watch and make more money, but feck off

Sadly TV rules the game, and has ruined football, feed the rich, feck the poor.

For matchgoers, it's a ballache but for armchair fans, it's perfect. Two consecutive CL games although Inter v Spurs is the only good game in the entire group stage early kick offs.

Young Boys, AEK, PSV, and Red Star Belgrade too.

Looking forward to watching Neymar and Mbappe v TAA and Robertson.

Man United with Young Boys sounds like a Thai headline

everything that is wrong with the modern game.
Champions League my arse.

They Did well against City and Madrid's wide players but I think tonight is the best pair of wide players in the game. They will alnost certainly score against us.

Yep, that would be a hard test for your defence and the full backs especially.

Who cares? Like you'd be watching if it was Viktoria Plzen v Crvena Zvezda every game week.

CL games at 7 pm are such an anti-climax. They have to be played at 8:45!

That doesn’t even make sense.

I think his point is that if it was strictly for champions the quality would become much worse.

Most people have got over the fact that it's not a competition strictly for champions but some would still like to go back to the times when it was.

You're only 26 years too late to start lobbying against it.

European Football is farcical now, how can you call a competition the Champions League when most of the teams are not even champions?
As for the Europa League, absolute joke of a tournament.
Some teams that actually qualify for the Europa League have to play 4 qualifiers just to reach the league stages yet teams can get eliminated from the CL qualifiers and go straight into the Europa League group stages :wenger: and 3rd place finishers in CL group stages go straight into the knock out rounds :wenger:.
It must be embarrassing for these BIG teams getting knocked out of Europe twice :lol:
The bottom line is these tournaments are feeding the rich, basically a big feck off to the smaller clubs with less income who actually deserve a place in tournaments but UEFA make it as difficult as they can for the minnows.
UEFA have a duty like all other football organisations to look after the game and ensure ALL clubs are treated the same.
TV is great for the glory hunting armchair fans, but in reality it has fecked the game for the majority.
Believe it or not there is much more to the game than Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man Utd, Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar and the like...… Fantasy Football.
I enjoy watching junior or semi professional football more than I do watching overpaid arseholes with massive egos diving around the Neu Camp.

I guess you wont be watching then?

Correct.

And ironically, it stopped being 'only for champions' pretty soon after it was named 'Champion's League'

You are getting too hung up on the name. The point is that CL is the premier European football competition and should include the best teams from Europe. Do you honestly think that having the champions from obscure European countries in place of 2nd-4th of PL, La Liga, Bundesliga would make the competition stronger? More unpredictable, yes but not better in my opinion.
Anyway, just my thoughts. How would you prefer it to work?

I'm not sure it would become much worse to be honest.

If people want a tournament for the rich and famous then call it the European Club Championship, then I wouldn't have a problem with it.
But, they need to stop this pandering to the so called bigger clubs who FAIL in either the CL qualifiers or Group stages by giving them access to the Europa League taking away places from teams who actually qualified for that tournament and deserve a chance to make some money from it.

I'm not sure it would become much worse to be honest.

It would, there would be 4-5 teams from top leagues who could realistically win it and a lot of teams that would get spanked week in week out. The gap in quality has become absolutely massive over the last 10-15 years,

This year it'd basically be Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man City, Bayern, Juventus, PSG and a bunch of teams that stand absolutely zero chance of winning against any of them over two legs.

I think a 2 team maximum per country is a good start. Let's not have the 3rd and 4th placed teams think they bring something unique to the competition. Rather have someone in who actually won something over them.

Have 3 tracks into the competition.

If you win the CL, or you win the title in a league ranked 1-7 you get in automatically.

If you win the title in a league ranked 7-51 then you enter qualifiers that will produce 16 champions. The rest fall into the Europa league.

If you finish second in a league ranked 1-16, you enter unseeded qualifiers that produce 8 2nd placed teams. The rest fall into the Europa league.

We're all Champions in the eyes of God, even propagators of archaic hoofball like Aberdeen.

Now, 'Europa League' is a rubbish name. Anything word with 'Euro' or such like prefixing it just sounds inherently cheap to me.
