UEFA Champions League 18/19 Matchday 2 fixtures (2nd - 3rd October 2018)

Can we buy out Naglesmann's contract with Leipzig? He might be naive but surely he'd have our lot playing?

Don't think he'd come. We already *really* tried getting him, to no avail. He's careful not to try himself on taking a step potentially too big for the time.
And time, he has lots, at the age of 30:D

Robbie Savage praising the City tactics of accumulating bookings for cynical fouls, calling them 'good fouls'. Nothing good about them, just thuggish - though they do form a big part of their tactics.

Isn't it what teams did to Barca, just take turns in kicking Messi.

FFS! If he rejected Bayern, we've got no chance.

This isn't even that, though. They spread the bookings around their team and essentially stop the opposition countering by any means necessary. It's part of what makes the high press so effective. Klopp does it too.

For what is a pretty sloppy performance from both teams, BT commentary is going a bit over the top. Can't stand Savage.

How are City doing?

I would have a little chuckle if they drew this game but the updates from BBC state they will trounce them?

Nothing wrong with it in my opinion. Fergie always had Keane and other players made sure opposition couldn't break and score by fouling.

It's winning at all costs, we've forgot how to do that.

City don't like the Champions League at all do they? Amazing that a side as good as them consistently fails in this competition.

They'll probably win the whole thing now I've said that.

The number of sly fouls City get away with is unreal. Laporte should’ve been booked a couple of times.

It's like PSG. For all the dominance domestically these two teams are missing something in the CL.

Hoffenheim have the exact formula needed to play City. This is exactly how to play against a Pep team.

Hoffenheim are great to watch. First time i'm watching them since forever.

They are quite a pain in the back to play against in general, and able to maintain their intensity over the whole course of the game.
They also have a good blunder in them from time to time, mainly due to lack of maturity and experience.
If they can hold on the that draw, it'd be a huge success for them.

Wow Dybala hat trick. He seems to play and express himself better when Ronaldo is not there, strange as it may sounds

Do you think their all out attack approach doesn't really work when CL teams are a lot more tight and prone to counter well?
Better late than never.

Odds on Mourinho mentioning this during his pre/post match interview?

I actually think that their pacing inside the games is one of the few clear weaknesses of Hoffenheim. They tend to overpace a bit for too long which causes them to run out of gas and lose both concentration and formation for smaller phases of the games.

This is happening right now aswell, btw. City has a clear grip on the game by now and should have gotten a clear cut penalty.

Savage is rapidly climbing my list of most annoying pundits, continuously repeating something in an increasingly exasperated voice is not an acceptable substitute for wit or insight.

The thought of City playing Europa League this season. Please, please, please if there is a higher power up there!

Interesting to see City suffer so much in CHL this year. Given their relatively easy group, I was expecting them to get much better results.
