UCL Round of 16 - First Legs - Feb 18 - 26

Good match this, far better than yesterday's boredom. Unfair to take Cazorla off, he was nothing spectacular but I believe that there was atleast one toad on the pitch that should've been subbed off. Wenger probably spared him so he wasn't on a suicide watch.

Flamini is pretty good for Arsenal so far, surprise package by Sanogo, for such unexperienced player who gets close to zero supply from his team mates he's doing very well.

Alaba's having a mare, nearly gifted Arsenal a goal and then fecked up the peno, horrible crossing too. Bayern are crossing a lot, seems we've started a new trend in Europe, feck tiki-taka man.
That and penalty misses.

Courtois man of the match, one of the best in his role
Koke really talented
Atletico seems an average team, gabi, suarez, insua are nothing more than decent/mediocre players

Good game by Taarabt, Kaka and Balotelli

We play the Criss Cross Jump football

On bein sport, Andy Gray doesn't think it was a red.

His reasoning? I agreed with Ballack that the law made it impossible to be anything else but was harsh in terms of the game as a spectacle. It was a red though so can't blame the ref.

I didn't think it was a Red at first; I thought the ball had gone too far for Robben to get it.

But the replay showed that I was obviously wrong.

He said that Robben wasn't getting the ball, that his touch would have taken it away from him even had the keeper not been there.

It was a wonderful touch from Robben, and he would have scored for sure because he would have been around Chesney and tapped home. Keepers just cannot stay on their line these days, I honestly don't think you'd catch De Gea doing that, he seems to be the only keeper with a a brain regarding decision making.

Was the Chief saying lefties could or couldnt take penos? I can't remember all I do remember is arguing against everything he said just to piss him off.

There's an entire YouTube video out there of the Chief's penalty argument.

Robben made the most of it, but not quite to the breakdance party level of Suarez v Arse.

Yeah, I have no idea why people are saying that Robben would not have gotten to the ball.. it looks like that because he fell.. otherwise he would have been on it in a flash..

Thirty five minutes jaime? Did you have some coke in the toilets during the penalty?

Sanogo apart from one moment has been shit.
What the feck are you expecting from Sanogo? He's done a lot better than expected. He's not suddenly a world beater but he's done just as well as Giroud would have.

Thats bullshit and he can't know that. He was last man and it was a goal scoring opportunity, thats a red. I'm surprised there is someone other than deluded fans who think it wasn't a red.

Those pundits lose all credibility and professionalism when clubs from their countries are involved, it was a clear red. Saying it's a harsh as it changes the game completely is one thing but to come with fantasies like they do is something else.

The only time I've ever seen a short run up work was Drogba to win the CL, ironically past Neuer. He took one step.

Redknapp and carragher being outshone by ballack. And as I typed that ballack was talking about tactics and those 2 testicles were babbling over him so he didn't get to say what he wanted.

Stupid rule to have a penalty AND a red card. It's too harsh. Punishing twice for one offence.

What if a player is through on goal, rounded the keeper so its an empty net and a player/keeper himself just cynically runs into him or something. That would then mean its a penalty with the keeper in goal and still 11 players. That would surely make it unfair on the attacking team then.

Would it be worth a try playing Evra in central midfield a la Lahm? He's obviously got tired of doing any actual defending these days.
