UCL Round of 16 - First Legs - Feb 18 - 26

Kolarov has been good this season.

I know his form has been good, but he is still far from great fullback, and he is playing as winger in this game, where he never looked good IMO.

Presume that's Silva behind Negredo then. Not sure why he's not on the left instead of Kolarov with Dzeko up top though.

I'm not sure anyone plays two up top against Barca. City tried it against Bayern in their home match and Bayern took the piss.

BARCA: Valdes Alves Pique Mascherano Alba Xavi Busquets Fabregas Sanchez Messi Iniesta #fcb

Barcelona's back line never filled me with confidence, and they're not so good at retaining possession as they were at their peak. I don't think it will be the drubbing many predict, even with Aguero's absence.

I'm surprised Pellegrini has gone with Kolarov. I thought perhaps Garcia and Fernandinho in behind Yaya, with Silva left and Navas right would have been what they went with, to try and avoid getting over-run in midfield. That would also have made the most of Yaya's physicality (I assume Pellegrini has seen the damage Martinez did to this Barca midfield last season).

I'd have played Navas. Other than that, it's an excellent line up. What are the benches looking like?

The Barca line up looks a lot stronger. City could have used Aguero badly.

I think Kolarov is actually a decent decision, Barca's main attacking when stuck comes from Alves, playing Kolarov is the best possible block to that.

Fernandinho back is huge for City, they'll need him.

Still think Barcelona will be too much for Citeh over two legs.

Neymar on the bench i presume, was that to be expected?
He's been out injured for a while and is being eased back. Came on for the last half an hour against Rayo (first appearance in 3 weeks) at the weekend and scored a beauty. I don't think many would have expected him to start but he'll certainly come off the bench.

Demechlis should be getting destroyed tonight.

No clue how this one will go. Barcelona on form could tear them to pieces but City have been scoring for fun and IMO Barca are the weakest defensively out of all of the top teams and can also be torn to shreds against a quality attacking side. Aguero could be the key loss though.

Surely going to be an absolute cracker either way.

With Aguero present I'd have predicted City to win but I think Barca's midfield will keep the ball too much for Man City to do anything with it.

I reckon a City player will get sent off in the first half. Kompany probably because he'll be too fired up.

I think Barcelona is in big trouble. When was the last time they played at high level with Iniesta+Xavi+Fabregas+Messi together?

I would left Xavi (or Iniesta) on the bench for this one.

Demechelis might or might not get destroyed but he's twice the defender Lescott is. The only time he's truly looked bad is when he was played as a defensive midfielder where he himself has admitted he doesn't feel comfortable. Not to mention he's the only defender they have that has played in the higher stages of champions league and also faced Messi before.

Hard to call, I am tempted to put money on City at 3.1 but then again Demichelis doesn't fill me with confidence. City simply have to win to have a chance over two legs.

ITV are idiots only having 15 minutes of build up to this, for the sake of fecking Emmerdale... If it was Corrie it'd be a bit more understandable.

To any religious Caftards: Does it count as blasphemy to pray for City to get absolutely mauled?

Set pieces might play good part in this, of course if City manage to get any at decent distance. I reckon they will need just few of them to score a goal.

Headphones on and Chilies was doing the introduction in the corridor as the players were walking down and along comes Alves dancing/walking/having some kind of a seisure...I don't know what the feck it was man

Must be his pre game ritual.

Chiles is a joke, "we should really pay tribute to City, 15 years ago they were playing Macclesfield Town."

Wow, must be so hard qualifying for the knockouts with endless streams of cash

got this from a City fan I know

Not set us up to win by the look of the team??? He said he was going to play the way we always do at home??? I can see a bit of a hiding TBH!!!

He is not very confident.

I honestly think I could've got city to this stage of the competition by now with the resources they've had.
