U15s: KDB Cup (1-2 June)

Think I found Bigsid’s Twitter. Scroll through their posts for a good laugh.

What a sad little life that guy must have. It's not even him supporting City or something other club, all his replies have been hating United. Saying both City and Liverpool played their reserve U18s and age frauds on multiple of our players.

RB's goal came from them pressing high while we tried to play out from the back... Gazik had a poor touch but got away with it with a player closing him down, he gave it to Douka outside our box in a dangerous position but the player who had almost nipped the ball off of Gazik had joined as a 2nd man pressing Douka and favouring his right foot he tried to turn from facing his goal to keep the ball on his right side, and it was right into the path of the player coming in to double press him. Douka gives the ball away and a good finish put us 1-0 behind, halftime now

Certainly wouldnt say it was all Douka's fault - The the LCB and Goalkeeper kept passing the ball to each other as we went back 10-20 yards and then Gazik's poor touch almost let them in before, then he passed the ball to Douka in a less than brilliant situation. And he's looked our best overall footballer from what I've seen. But his on the ball skills are well beyond his brain at the moment, sometimes he's calm and composed but sometimes not so much and his decision making isnt great, but when he gets it right he looks like this team's version of Mainoo or Angel Gomes as the technical ball playing midfielder who can go past a player or create something.

That’s a coaching thing 100%. Not saying it’s right or wrong.

Yes, it is coaching. Or more accurately, inadequate coaching. IMO it is wrong and hopefully they will iron it out as they continue to develop. I am talking about our CDM and CM trying to wriggle, twist and turn out of a million presses rather looking up and passing to the open man.

It's worth mentioning that the coaches for the tournament were Martin Drury (U16s) and Paul McShane (U15s). The majority of the squad were U14s so they won't have worked with the coaches too often, so maybe understandable that things weren't all that fluid. Good learning experience in preperation for next season though.

What are your credentials for saying that the approach United take towards favouring developing skills and developing physique and tactics later is wrong?

Conveniently it’s KDB’s first professional club against his current one in the final.

We were awarded the Fair Play Trophy. Not sure what for though.
