Tyrone Mings stamp on Zlatan | He’s at it again

He would have been aware of where his foot connected with even if it wasn't intentional and if you think you've stamped on someone's skull you'd check on them. Cnutish behaviour either way.

Mings and Zlatan's interviews have been hilarious. Like EastEnd villains both look shifty and avoid looking into the camera, as they try to convince the cops that nothing happened.:lol:

Kudos to both of them -both hard as nails

wonder who would win a cage fight? I think Mings would cane our Zlatan

It should be a lifetime ban IMO. Of course those don't happen in football, but it is by far the worst 'challenge' I have ever seen in football. Could have easily been fatal.

Ibra should get a 3 match ban. While I fully understand and sympathize with him, retaliation isn't allowed.

As expected, very little is being made of it. It's all about Zlatan's elbow. Just imagine if it was the other way around. The media would be after blood and everyone would be talking about giving record breaking bans (and rightly so). Same if it was someone like Costa by the way. But because it's some cnut from Bournemouth no one seems to give a feck.

Sky Sports spent most of half time and post match condemning Mings and empathising with Zlatan's reaction.

I'm reading reactions after the game, I don't get Sky sports so I can't say anything about that. Post game reactions I'm seeing on some sports websites: "Ibrahimovic the pantomime villain again as United fall short", "Zlatan Ibrahimovic claims Tyrone Mings ‘jumped into my elbow’", "Zlatan Ibrahimovic says Tyrone Mings "jumped into my elbow" in clash during Manchester United draw", etc. At most we get a very matter-of-fact "Mings could face retroactive punishment".

Zlatan would win, no doubt about it.

interesting. You can see why some people are so fed up with all this FAKE NEWS!

Utterly despicable from Mings. It's a pre-meditated stamp on Ibrahimovic's head. Without hyperbole: you could easily cause a serious brain injury with a stomp like that. Or worse. I'm not sure exactly what the rules are around exceptionally violent behaviour but, as shit as biting is, something like this is much worse and ought to be punished appropriately. He should miss the rest of the season at the very least.

As for Ibrahimovic - let's face it - he got attacked on the ground and took the next opportunity to take revenge and knock Mings the feck out. On a personal level, I'm not sure how much you can blame him and I think most of us would be hard pushed to claim that we wouldn't have lashed out in the same situation. From a formal disciplinary perspective though, he clearly deliberately elbowed Mings and according to the laws of the game ought to have been sent off. I expect he will be punished retrospectively. I don't buy the line that there can be no retrospective action as the referee spoke to him after the incident; the ref could easily have been saying "I didn't see what happened, but you need to calm down", or whatever.

I don't know Mings background but Ibra has a black belt in taekwondo so he is likely much better at fighting than some guy who apparently looks hard.

Taekwondo guys generally aren't great with their fists. I'd love to see Ibra actually sparring, kickboxing because he strikes me as the type of guy who'd be really, really good just because he's so professional.

I train taekwando, kickboxing, mma and have boxed but it doesn't automatically mean I could beat some hard fecker in a street fight. Would be interesting because Ibra looks like a hard fecker too.

The stamp was horrible.

But the sugar coating on Ibra's elbow is shameful.

Both knew exactly what they were doing.

And Rooney claiming he knew all about it is obviously false. He was getting up from the ground with his back to the entire event. He was clueless to the stamp.

I'm not kidding when I say my little sister has a black belt in Taekwondo. You get it after about 3 years of lessons. It's not as impressive as it sounds.

Having said that, Zlatan looks like a pretty tough dude and in a Premiership Royal Rumble, he'd be one of the favourites.

What a Lovely world you live in...if someone stamps on my bonce they get more than an elbow

What are you even talking about? Did you somehow conclude that I approve of the stamp retaliation? Or are you just blind to the few seconds before that when a United player deliberately threw his elbow into his opponents face? You're weird.

Team captain standing up for team mate and taking his word as gospel. There's no captain in football that wouldn't do the same.

Jose played a blinder in his presser after the game. Trying to make it all sound like a small altercation and not a major point in the game. He was probably dying to rip into Mings but the less attention this receives, the higher the probability that Zlatan might get away without a suspension (still very very unlikely but Jose did his part).

never knew that. wow. explains a lot.

Only thing I'm confused about is how Ibra got up as if not much had happened

It looked like he'd gone down pretending he was more hurt than he was, perhaps to try and get a free kick. Then he stopped pretending he was hurt when he got his head stamped on, and instead looked up to see who he needed to seek revenge on.

Hard as nails

I think it was more a glancing blow from his foot tbh. Hence he got up ok. Could've been a lot worse.

Hard as nails

It was free kick on Rooney but the ref played on.

Zlatan is as hard as nails no doubt, but it was as bad an incident as I can remember really, lucky for Zlatan he didn't make full contact, and that his head was a few inches off the ground to help cushion the blow.

Mings is a little coward scumbag, I just hope the FA come down hard on him. Come across really smug in his interview on Sky.

This post makes it sound like you've your timeline messed up - the stamp came first (if I've misread your post somehow then apologies).

Had to work and only saw it just now. Absolutely disgraceful by Mings.

Zlatan got trolled. He should have never taken the bait in the first place. Minge is going to get his 2 weeks of game now.

It was despicable and disgraceful. At first, I thought it was unintentional, but it's clearly intentional when you re-watch the video a few times.

Deserves a very lengthy ban.

Ibra's got a black belt in something.

He'd make Mings wish he hadn't been born if they fought imo.
yeah, someone pointed that out above. Kudos to Ibra!! Although Mings is such a sneaky cnut, he'd hide cut glass in between his fingers and a golf ball inside his fist.

Thats what I found so disgusting about Mings stamp, it was when Ibra was defenceless, head turned away and on the ground. Utter cowardice.

At least Ibra was man enough to extract his revenge in a neutral and fair situation.

Can't defend either in any way but the stamp is disgusting & totally intentional.

You need to go to the Liverpool branch of specsavers and / or get a guide dog if you think that is an accident.

He elbowed a bloke in the head who was looking in another direction. Mings deserved it but it's hardly the stuff they write folk songs about.
Yeah, over reached.

It wasn't Cantona-esqe, no matter I'd like it to be.

It's clearly not intentional. You try making such a big jump without any run up. Look where Mings' starting position is. Not sure Zlatan's elbow is intentional either.

Zlatan has perfectly disguised his true intentions when he jumped for that cross. There's no way he should be punished with retrospective red, when he simultaneously has ticked so many mitigating boxes. He was at the end of the cross; went for it in the air as if he was genuinely fighting for a scoring chance; the ball did hit the top of his head; he hasn't even glanced at Mings instead appearing to be focused solely on the ball; those types of elbows happen all the time. The key to correct interpretation of his actions lies in context, however when you forget about what happened before the second(or third) act you do get quite a typical yellow card offence and no more. It looks like we've got a hitman on our books

You're just disagreeing for attention. Look at Mings face and where he's looking before and during the stamp. Quite clearly intentional

Maybe we are exaggerating and the lad was just showing some passion and getting stuck in?

Hopefully Poch was watching. This Mings fella would fit right in
