Tyrell Malacia (Out) | talks with Benfica collapse

Hard choice between him and Lindelof for me.

Malacia looked somewhat decent in his first season and if reports are true, played on with injuries that exasperated it. Injuries has ruined two years of his career and he's not had a chance to get back to sharpness. He rightly has to leave for game time.

Lindelof is a coward of a defender that prefers to back peddle, retreat and not engage. Does the very least and yet somehow has managed an 8 year stay here.

Very clear choice between the two.

I could see him at Celtic since Tierney isn’t going till the summer. Valle has left and they only have Greg Taylor.

Seems like the club is no longer accepting low-ball offers and subsidizing a player playing for another club, pay up or no deal.

His salary is not crazy so not the end of the world if he stays and maybe backups Dorgu and Licha.

Not from I've read. According to the Athletic he didn't go with United's recommended surgeon.

Are there concrete talks with any other club re: Malacia now?

To be honest to the guy he’s better off battling it out in the Championship getting some proper fitness. It’s going to take him about 8 months to fully find his feet again in football.

Go play for Boro or Sunderland.

I'm not sure why he would do that when he wasn't far from sealing a move to Benfica. I expect there will be further interest or negotiations before tomorrow.

The Portuguese league isn’t better than the Championship and I don’t see where he was getting loads of minutes infront of Alvaro.

Dont get the hate for Malacia.

I would much rather see him play Wing Back than Dalot or Maz.

Shaw isn't fit - ever. Malacia as back up to Dorgu seems reasonable to me

I would agree with this but there is no chance of getting a fee for Shaw.

With the finances how they are currently, if a LB has to leave then Malacia is the one with any value.

I get the logic

I just can't see any logic cos the fee will be so low for malacia.

I'd honestly rather sell Dalot

Is it hate? He just clearly isn't good enough and never was. In a wingback position especially he provides even less attacking threat than Dalot.

Had a decent spell as very much Shaw's replacement in the first 18months or so.

But then you remember Shaw is massively injury prone and Malacia himself was out for 18months and it's simply not sustainable.

Dalot gets the ball and instantly rushes to pass it backwards as quickly as humanly possible. He's awful as a wingback.

Yes. And the fact Malacia is worse shows just how poor he is. He should never play for United again.

Can't agree there to be honest (Unless we got a very good offer for Dalot).

I'm just happy we are proactively moving players on instead of hoarding them for years like we have in the recent past.

Agree that players Amorin dont fancy should be moved on. Our approach to outgoings has been shocking in recent years

even before the injury didnt think he was anything special. At this point no sense in counting on him for anything.

Aside from the new lad do we have any left sided defensive players left with Licha's injury?
For a left footed LCB Shaw and Evans who's two footed but might lack a bit of acceleration for the wide areas. If Heaven was really brought in as a first team player though then you'd presume he has to be getting at least some games there now.

Probably best for his sake to find some form during his recovery but it's weird to do from our club POV. If Shaw ever comes back it's not like he'll be a LWB option

Presumably Dorgu will be getting the lions share of the minutes there now, we might possibly use Amass a little before the season ends too with good options for a loan not having materialized for him. It was clear that Ty is both physically struggling and uncomfortable with the role so a move to a club where he can operate in an easier league in a familiar FB role gives him the best chance to find some form and secure a permanent move.

I don’t think he is much of a loss though, he was only really making up the numbers. We haven’t really weakened the squad by letting him, Antony and Rashford go.

If there are injuries it just means a youngster will get a go. We are prioritising getting players out the door not just on loan now but ideally helping to get rid permanently in the summer.

EtH first window looks really awfull. No planing at all.
Starting with Malacia - wonder why.
Martinez.
And finishing with two brazilian panic buys.

Good to see that, in some capacity, this is getting sorted step by step.
