The only bit of that article that interests me is:
In their discussions with Juventus, United also asked about the Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal. This was in the Moyes era and United were not encouraged to follow up their interest in a player Van Gaal once tried to sign for Bayer Leverkusen.
If we're throwing that sort of cash Juve's way, it has to be for Vidal, not Pogba. I've read a few times around rumours about Pogba and Vidal that Juve will only let one leave at the most. It has to be Vidal if it's either.

60M is a massive fee but it's made even worse by what went on in the past. I wouldn't pay it.

It would be a bit embarrassing to pay that much two seasons after he left for free. Still I don't care what we pay if we bring in the top players required. If we can get him back then we should.

Would Pogba's performances make up the the shame of us paying £60m for a youth player we offloaded just 2 years ago for peanuts? I think not. If we're dipping into the Juve midfield, pick Vidal.

I still don't get our transfer plans, I hope LvG has changed it up. Did Moyes not have an eye for a good player and trust in himself? Could he only spot established midfielders at the biggest clubs in the world? The answer is probably yes when you consider the fact that he settled with someone from his old club.

Everything has pointed to Moyes just about signing Kroos and going after Fabregas and LVG choosing to go for different targets.

He wouldn't even want to come back, he's done nothing but criticise his treatment at United since he left. It just won't happen.
Mate, we all know the score with Pogba. He's all about the pound sign. If you paid him what he wants, he'd probably work on the bins in Salford.

The thing is though, we (United fans) base that opinion on him leaving for Juve but there are definitely two sides to the story. If he was given a chance similar to the way Januzaj has been this year, do you still think he'd have left?

The article said he's open to the idea. What's odd is that the Telegraph say we're put off by the price but the Guardian say we're still not sure.

I don't think anyone can deny that whether or not he left for more cash, he didn't get the chance in the first team he felt he deserved - even though we seemed to be lacking in there.

As it is he moved on, got a game, became an international and is now supposedly coveted by the best sides in the world. It's hard to criticise his decision on that basis.

Put bluntly - seems perhaps Fergie underestimated his ability and willingness to move on.

Pretty much agree. Also, if he is one of LVG's top-tier choices, then that's even more reason.

The story is in the Telegraph too. They said the fee scared us off. I thought we had £200m to spend?

Even if we have 200 million to spend, that doesn't mean we want to throw 60 of it on Pogba.
TBH this is another rumour that I just can't see happening. Spending that sort of money on a player that we let go for nothing a couple of years ago? Plus Pogba hasn't exactly had a lot of good things to say about us. Not happening.

What price were we expecting, 40 million? I highly doubt we'd even pay that for him, so the enquiry was pointless. Woodward loves a good pointless enquiry.

Pogba is a huge talent, and a central midfield one at that. I'd have him back easily, and 60m isn't that extortionate in today's market.

I know mate, I was just poking fun at the press saying we have £200m to spend.

My thinking too, I don't know what we were expecting. I would rather have Vidal but LVG isn't interested.

Where are you getting this from?

Pretty sure the only thing LVG has said about Vidal is that he wanted to buy him but Vidal chose Juve instead

There was me thinking that we would benefit in the league without European football but the morons who run the club will have us flying all over the world in between games.
The more games the better! There is nothing I love more than watching United play. It is also a perfect opportunity to bleed more of the youngsters through gaining vital experience. I think we all agree that LVG will be making youth a key pivot in our efforts in regaining success. Saying all this, it comes off the back of a 'tweet' by another idiot who quotes nobody and sources nothing!

plucked from his arse.

Well done, but if bothered to read the article by Taylor, then it's there. Get your facts right before saying things like that next time.

To quote Brian Clough, what would we want with that shithouse?

Really? Only two players have ever cost more

Show me the quote. All I see is that LvG wanted to buy him from Leverkusen. Nothing about him not being interested.

Hefty fee but he'd be worth it. Rather spend big on an amazing midfielder rather than £20mill on an average one.

I would imagine Daniel Taylor and pretty much every other journalist hasn't got a fecking clue who Van Gaal really want's. It's the usual scattergun approach again by these morons.

It isn't even in the Daniel Taylor article that LvG isn't interested (as far as I can see). I've asked him to quote it.

Yeah, man sat in his pants at the screen guesses that everyone else is a clueless moron

Doesn't say that LVG isn't interested.

So is Taylor saying we enquired into both Pogba and Vidal, to which we were 'not encouraged' to pursue Vidal but told we could have Pogba for 60m?

Interesting if true that they would be happier to let Pogba go before Vidal.

They know that Pogba is going to cause them problems at some point. Like he did with us.

As much as we need him, I really don't wanna see Pogba back here. It still hurts, and spunking £60 million to get him back would feel wrong. That's an absurd amount of money.

This article states that LVG is making a new striker a priority....Really?

I think it has to be. Yes there are other areas to address too but if you look at the goals City got last year and how many Chelsea will add with Costa, we really can't afford to have another season where outside Rooney and RVP everyone else struggles to get 10 goals
