After the rumours that Madrid are in for Kroos, Sport are just stirring I reckon.

As for Alexis I wouldn't be surprised if our name was being used to drive up the price.

What has happened to me? I've become so sceptical.

Maybe Kroos was "no longer a target" because the deal has been done already, just tying up personal details
Sanchez was someone I hope we'd sign b/c it's a realistic target and he's quality

For anyone who's interested we've become the fastest sports club to reach 50m likes on Facebook

Barcelona & Real Madrid are sitting on ~65m each.
It's an interesting measurement of our worldwide reach, the closest PL team is Arsenal with 25m, Liverpool with 20m, City 13m

Italian newspaper La Stampa are claiming on Saturday that Manchester United have contacted Barcelona and opened talks for Alexis Sanchez. La Stampa cover it from the Italian perspective and primarily the long standing wish of Juventus to sign the flying winger.

Juventus have been trying to get the price down and there have been many reports stating that they won't go above €18m for the player, which is optimistic to say the least. The Turin club have been trying to use the wish of the player to join them as a lever to help them get his price down. Juventus are playing Barcelona like Barcelona have played many clubs before.

However, the Juve plan hasn't worked yet and the biggest threat to it was always another club coming in with a higher offer. Tottenham and specifically Liverpool have also been credited with interest, Arsenal at points too, but La Stampa say that Manchester United are now ahead and are ready to bid €25m for the player.

Sanchez would be a brilliant signing for most clubs and that includes Manchester United. He'd excite the fans and give Louis van Gaal some of the best quality available from wide positions. However, Manchester United haven't been credited with much interest before, at least since he turned them down for Barcelona, and this move would be a surprise. A welcome surprise for those who regularly visit Old Trafford.

SANCHEZTER united?

That report makes me think...

Yeah but you can't compare ours to Liverpool's. Our 50m are mostly OOT's while their 20m are all from Merseyside.

If we ask 1 pound from everyone, we could buy arturo vidal. If we get two pounds from some we could buy any player not named ronaldo/mess/neymar/bale.

It's getting a little CHILE in here today.

All of these players are using our name to get themselves better contracts, it's nothing new.

I wouldn't trust Sport with this given their predilection for all things Barcelona especially now that Kroos is supposedly a Real Madrid target.

Looks like sport using old kroos news on our end to sell more papers. good for them

Exactly.

You have to wonder, why would a Spanish paper care about a transfer from a german club to an English one? How many times do you read in the sun about transfers from say, Germany to Italy?
Only doing it to wind up Madrid fans.

Wasn't it Sport that said we were rivaling Madrid for Suarez. It just another made up rival interest stoey. Why does it always have to ve us they target though, it's too painful.

I imagine the Sanchez story is similar bullshit.I think we hace a chance of getting him if we put more money on the table than Juve though.

If we don't sign anyone this summer at least I can comfort myself knowing that.

Yeah because that's what supporting a football club is about isn't it. Signings.

Saw earlier on twitter that Real Madrid linked with a £25m move for Ramires according to the Mirror. The reactions I've seen from both sets of fans have been quite funny.

it's amazing how people lap it up.

That's a great idea for both sides IMO. Milan has a massive global support-base just like ours and the matches will draw in huge crowds + sponsors. Good way to rake in 15-20 million provided we schedule them carefully and not fatigue the players. We have a big squad and could keep the reserves + fringe players (Hernandez, Nani, Wilson, Pereira, Thorpe, Powell, Varela, Keane, Lingard etc) match fit using these friendlies. :)

I don't really see a problem with a couple of friendlies to rake in some $

6-8 is too much.

United - Milan has always had traditional history in the matches we've had in the Champions League. We don't regularly meet. Too many friendlies will make it stale.

I call bull. In the earnings call, when answering questions from investors about the cost of missing out on the champions league Woodward did not mention anything about this. I'm sure if this were something we were considering, he'd have mentioned that these friendlies would offset some of the loss from missing out on the champions league.

I suppose travelling round get in some dosh will make up to an extent not being in Europe. Can't say I'll be that interested though.

Gonna be boring as feck. Playing against the same team again and again. But these are not meant for TV viewers but for increasing the fan base at different countries and earning while doing it. 8 matches is still a bit too much.

It's just unnecessarily risking the players fitness to make money to go towards the debt. It could be of some benefit to the young/fringe players I guess.
