I don't think its Phelan i reckon its Dave Fevre Uniteds old physio:

I met him at OT in 96. Same day I met a young David Beckham the week after he scored against Chelsea in the cup semi final. Stood talking to Becks for ages. Both thoroughly nice blokes.

No that I'm name dropping or anything.

Twitter is insufferable during the summer months. Bullshit merchants galore. And the favoured narrative at the moment is: United can't attract anyone. It's not going to be fun at all.

How on Earth do Barca expect to get away with getting Mata for £40m when we signed him in January for £3m less  if any team wanted him we'd look at Luiz and demand in excess on £60m for him at least. We should put another £30m bid in for Fabregas just to annoy them.

No we are better than Liverpool in more than squad Suraz Henderson (starting 11) and Sterling squad would improve us but who else would you take genuinely. You cite Carrick but Liverpool midfield has an average Joe Allan and Lucas and then an ageing Gerrard not exactly brilliant. I'd take McCarthy over any them now and he's apparently our worse target. Coutino over Kagawa or Mata? Evra or Flannigan Johnston or Rafael? Centre backs are an area both teams are wanting. Sturrage or Welbeck? Mingolet or DDG? No we are bit ahead of Liverpool but we were devoid of confidence this season and it showed but the season before we were about 30 points ahead of them and next season I'd expect us to be a good 10 points above them.

Liverpool has an average midfield yet Joe Allen and Lucas are better than anything we have apart from Carrick. Gerrard is better than Carrick and they have Henderson who vastly improved this season. Their midfield in both 1st XI and backups is much better than ours. Ours is truly, truly awful.

I'd have Coutinho over Kagawa despite being a massive Shinji fan, he's simply more productive and better suited to this league. Mata is obviously top but will he fit into our team? Certainly didn't last season and now we've got LVG we've got no natural place for him.

Evra is done, I'd rather have Flanagan, at least he actually defends.

Rafael is constantly injured and nowhere near as good as people think. Johnson is also terrible but at least he's reliable enough to play.

Sturridge or Welbeck? Are you actually serious thinking there's a debate there? This is Sturridge who scored 21 league goals this year, has scored 35 goals in total in a year and a half for Liverpool versus Welbeck who struggles to score 10 a season in a good year.

Obviously I'd rather have David De Gea but I did say we were better in goal than they were.

You're massively deluded if you think we're much better than them and this is with me admitting than they'll not have anywhere near as good a year next season.

People need to stop citing the fact we won the league in 2012-13 with the same squad. It was essentially a one-off freak reaction to City finally buying their title in 2011-12. SAF was livid with the way we lost it that year and resolved to get us so fired up we played out of our skins (we weren't even that good in most matches), Only he could've pulled off that title. We still had gaping, gaping holes in midfield. Remember the likes of Southampton outplaying us home and away yet through sheer determination and force of will we got results because Fergie wouldn't let us lose. For most of that team it was the last hurrah. It also helped that City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal were all way below this seasons levels so it looked far more dominant from us than we actually were.

This season just past was always going to happen even if it wouldn't have been so desperately pathetic under a better manager than Moyes. Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra finally showed they were completely done (even if Vida recovered a bit of form near the end). Smalling, Jones, Evans and Rafael are all nowhere near as good as people think and continue to get injured constantly. The midfield is pathetic, as it was then but at least we had Carrick playing as well as he possibly could. Sadly his legs have gone now, he's over the hill and it's not simply just a confidence thing. People need to seriously realise this.

You factor in that the wingers actually weren't any better in 2012-13 just the whole team was and we were constantly rescued by either RVP or Rooney, neither of which could do that this year because them not really being injured back then was the luckiest thing in the world and they were obviously going to get injuries this season.

You paint a very bleak picture Matherto, I think you seriously under estimate our squad. You say we have to stop referring to the season before last as it was a fluke yet the season before that we lost by 1 goal was that a fluke also? So much went against us this season with manager change unhappiness loss of confidence and then form and injuries then manager sacking. I can't see this happening again. Liverpool on the other hand went out the two cups early and concentrated on the league to good effect. Unless they spend big and wisely they wont be getting finishing above us next season. But if I whole hartedly look at the squads and players we are much stronger than Liverpool imho. By the way I would rather have Fellaini any day over Joe Allan who is on par with Tom Cleverley. Plus I can only see Gerrard slide even further into the finished category.

Don't the monday papers tend to have stories from the most informed writers? (At least it seems that way). Hopefully some news tonight

Bank holiday means nothing right? Just the usual "must be made up" stories. Expect alot about the supposed Mata bid from Barca.

Would be incredible. Hummels would be v tough to get though.
Incredible? Really? Blind isnt a good buy at all, he is not even the best midfielder in dutch leagua, i dont see the point of buying him at left back if we buy shaw.
Hummels, shaw, herrera (Ander), strootman/carvalho would be a good summer. We will make the champions league with these players and then may be next year buy a really top class midfielder like kroos (style of play) to replace carrick.

Don't really see anything to get excited about in Blind. Would be extremely underwhelming.

Not transfer related (well, sort of actually) but here you go anyway

It was a long time now but I read through this site and I didn't think the evidence was all that convincing IMO. Apologies if I'm wrong though of course.

http://www.chedevans.com

Aye it was all a bit vague in terms of info they had at the time, I know their family are pretty confident of the next appeal being successful, feck knows though as if it's not it's a bit fecked that he'll be getting a pro contract.

Lol, is this how Chelsea, PSG etc.. plan on getting around FFP by buying and selling amongst themselves?? Don't be surprised to see Lavezzi sold to them for £50 million... cancel out the Luiz deal.

It seems like the only logical reason why anyone would spend 50 million on Luiz!

why on earth would they target lavezzi if they already have schurrle and hazard in that position swell as willian and salad. they seem well stocked in terms of wingers

Surely you know better by now than to question anything Mr. Abramovich does, all logic goes out the window.

I'm not sure if you've thought this through ...

So fed up of transfer windows, twitter bullshit and papers stirring up all sorts of crap but you can't ignore it because you hold out hope every day waiting for that first new signing.

I just wish we'd stop fecking about and actually sign someone worthwhile.

Daily Mail etc etc but any news that appears legit has dried up :(

Can Chelsea sign him already? It's just delaying the inevitable and I'm still not sure if he's worth more than £27m.

He isn't.. but factor in that he'd be our left back for the next decade or so it's a smart investment. That is of course we get it sealed, the silence is deafening and I just know we are going to be left with egg on our face as per.

99% actually feck it 100% of what the Daily Mail report is false guessing bullshit to make headlines, if you want rumours with a possible certainty in them follow the Guardian and Mark Ogden, he usually know's first and has real inside contacts, these " Sport Journalists" from the DMail, The Sun, The Mirror and Express etc are stealing a living.
