I doubt Lampard's actually leaving, these released/retained lists mean next to nothing most of the time as players renew after. Reckon he'll stay there for at least one more season.

Sad to see Kiko's United career ending in such a damper after the start he had in the first team, hope he forges a decent career elsewhere.

Lampard back to West Ham to end his playing career?

I had wanted us to sign Ashley Cole before the news filtered out Evra had signed a new contract. Glad we don't need to

So does anyone think shaw will have a change of heart joining United now that he wont be first choice left back

@Santos J

There is no contract offer denoted on the list.

Lampard?

Feck knows why he's not on the list like the others are but I'd be surprised if he does leave, would've thought he'd have said he was moving on if that was the case.

We're not going to spend £30m on Shaw for him to sit on the bench. Evra's not good enough to start regularly now & if we do sign Shaw then he'll be playing the majority of the games.

City keep Clichy and Kolarov happy and both players are closer to their prime than Evra or Shaw. IF we sign Shaw it shouldn't be a problem.

But they have Champions League football

We have just PL games and maybe 4 League Cup games til January
That's where Evra being 33 and Shaw being 19 come into play. Both would get 25-30 appearances each and minimises the risk of Shaw burning out by the time he's 25/26.
Obviously there has to be an understanding on both sides that games will be shared, maybe with one getting the majority. But the role will be shared.

Personally don't think 3/4 is enough.. we need at least two central midfielders, one/two central defenders, a left back (hopefully Luke Shaw) and just to be greedy a half decent winger.

I have rather Evra as back-up than Buttner and it's important we have someone with experience/leadership in the defence (after Vidic and Ferdinand) so i agree

But i have seen 20-25 Southampton games last season (My mum lives there) and Shaw is 100% ready for us, biggest english talent in my opinion

Evra's time is over at Old Trafford......i love Paddy......but he was average in the last 2 years

And for me it's very important that we're playing the same back-four for 75% of the games, that was one of our big problems in the last 2-3 years......we have changed to much our defence
