I know what de Boer said. But makes you think 'we are sniffing around'. Based on the fact that he's Dutch and will a gap in our squad that we need? Because there's been nothing of note that's linked us with Blind. His agent came out and said all the stories linking us with Blind is just gossip and not true. He said we've had no contact.

Yeah, actually. Van Gaal trusted him in two positions we need cover/players for. Also I think Blind said he would be interested in a move. The fact that journalists haven't linked him more heavily means nothing seeing as they know feck all anyway.

Presumably because nothing has been agreed with his club yet and the agent doesn't want to be the person that gets us accused of tapping up.

Perhaps. My question stems from people being convinced we will land Blind but saying any stories linking us with players like Cuadrado, Vidal, di Maria must be nonsense, when in actual fact the news on our interest in Blind is just as thin as those names I've mentioned. Basically, we're convinced he's coming to us just because he's Dutch and can play DM and LWB. That's about it as I can't see where else people are getting the confidence from that he's pretty much a wrapped up deal.

I thought that... but so are the likes of Nani, Anderson, Zaha, etc.

Difference being released as opposed to sold. These players probably are on the outgoing list but no buyer coming in yet. Lindegaard wouldn't have got a squad number if he was released because essentially you are terminating the contract.

Ey, that's true.

Why are people so excited by that tweet? It just says that if we sign someone they will be given a number unassigned and the announced numbers won't change. It doesn't mean we'll sign someone worthy of no.7.

Lindegaard being released would be unbelieveably stupid. He seems content and is a good a back up keeper as you'll get. We would then have to look for a replacement, I don't think Amos or Johnstone will be trusted with being back up. It makes no sense but I guess in recent years united haven't made much sense when it comes to transfers.

Does he? I thought he wasn't here to pick his nose.. Fair play if he wants to leave for more first team football. He's never going to get it consistently here.

You just know if Bayern go for him then they'd have it wrapped up in 5 mins.

Maybe Lindegaard wants to go somewhere and be first choice. Would miss him if he went, always thought he was a good steady back up.

Thiago also injured till October I think.

Interesting that Powell has a pretty high number. Wonder if he is in LVG's thinking for the season.

Martinez was used a CB just like how Bielsa used him. I highly doubt he's guy buy Vidal as a replacement.

Pretty sure pep was going to use Martinez as a CB anyway.

With the signing of Bernat I'm pretty sure Alaba will play midfield.
