Does anyone really think we're in for Di Maria? I think Real are trying real hard to drum up interest in him after the PSG deal fell through..
I just don't see how he would fit into our system but the links with us just will not go away.

Or the Mirror stole them from the Mail.

The Mail say he "sat down" with them.
Did he sit down with all the papers? Was there a presser today??

Managers and players do that sort of thing, when they sit with a few journalists at the same time. It's not a press conference.

Feck me we are going to sign that Blind fella are we? I hope he won't be the only one because I don't think he would make much sense atl all.

Since Van Gaal said he prefers to play 4-3-3 but will use 3-5-2 before we don't have the right wingers, maybe getting one will change the system.

Juventus are waiting for a bid, Fiorentina are waiting for a bid, Roma are waiting for a bid, Real are waiting for a bid, Ajax are waiting for a bid.

Might be waiting a long time...
Woody expecting them to be posted without charge.

Be abit stupid to work hard on 3-5-2 all through pre season only to change the system for the start of the season.

Would really prefer that system, would give Janujaz a better chance of playing too, could be an issue for RVP, or Rooney though.

What a joke of a club. Being the best player in their most important game in 10 years and arguably the whole season got him transfer-listed.

Kroos & Rodriguez were simple enough for Real to sort out, they asked the respected clubs to name their price and paid it. I'd say Real spoke to Bayern and Monaco for a week maximum before agreeing the prices for the players. Let's face it if Real wanted Rodriguez before the WC they'd have got him for a much lower fee and would've had it wrapped up before he went there also.

Woodward has barely had to negotiate in this window has he? He paid the buy out clause for Herrera and offered Soton money their not going to refuse for Shaw. He's pants at selling players too, £2m for Bebe who had a great season last season, we could've got at least £4m upfront!
This is what I mean, it's all conjecture and guesswork. Maybe Madrid were in discussions since May but hadn't decided to really push ahead until after the WC? Similarly with Kroos, we don't know if it was a quick deal or more went on behind the scenes. I'm not saying we're as efficient as other clubs as other clubs obviously are run in different ways. It somehow seems you're trying to turn the Shaw thing into a moan or discredit anything we did with that deal even though that's exactly the approach you are saying we should use regularly. The stuff about Bebe is also just opinion not really based on anything other than plucking numbers from the sky.

Short term, yes, but not long term. Our lads are also well used to playing a flat back four so it wouldn't be a shock to them or anything.

LB cover, and a DM rolled into one, plus knows LvG ways already, makes sense to me.

As a squad addtion yes. But we should first look for players improving our first 11 imo. Especially in CM we have enough squad players at this rate (granted some of them will leave...hopefully). As a LB cover we are talking though.

Sorry but, why? Do you not think it's possible to be working on more than one deal at a time?

Blind is the type of player I'd love here. Like Hargreaves, he excells in several positions. We'd get a lot out of him late on in the seasons.

Di Maria is a no-brainer if we are in for him. Worth whatever they want for him. Top, top player.

Well Blind won't come totally cheap and we have already spent quite an amount if you know what I mean. I just fear he could be the last one of our additions.

Wouldn't surprise me, LvG is a fan. Called him up to the WC team despite him bursting into the Feyernood team fairly late last season. Left footed, physically powerful and great in the air. I think he's better than Indi, who I wasn't impressed with at the WC.

Anything interesting happened today? Any tweets I should know about?
We are being linked with Daley Blind and Kongolo and Barca might not have given up on Cuadrado.

Wish you a good night's rest.

I'm never ever embarrased to be a United fan. If you are then maybe you're too sensitive for football.

I'm not embarrassed to be a fan. I was embarrassed for Woodward and the club that we were clearly a laughing stock transfer wise last summer. Massive feck up.

Surely we can look at both things at the same time, just a matter of who we tie down first, Blind should be easy enough if we want him you would have thought, Vidal, Di Maria probably not so, last thing we need is a trolley dash in the last couple of days when the big guns fall through, nice to get a guy like this in to take pressure off a bit.

Blind would be third choice in midfield for me, and could easily displace Shaw early on if he struggles, he's only 19 after all.

Woodward needs a reality check. If you want a player, you pay the price, otherwise you don't get him and you lose your job.

This is brilliant. You genuinely think that Woodward's jib is to pony up what other clubs say they want? Ok.

In entirely unrelated news, I have a car I'd like to sell to you...

What's really crazy is that they have no player to replace him, really, as he's so unique. I have no idea what they don't just sell Khedira and keep Di Maria, who can get games competing with Kroos and Modric at CM and Bale and Ronaldo out wide.

Isco is a very, very good player, but he's probably the one that should go.

Does make sense.
It's just the fear that we settle for that kind of players.
Not bad, don't get me wrong and who knows how he develops there, but also not someone to really take us a step forward.

Shiny toy Syndrome I'm afraid. They have to be the in thing otherwise Madrid will get rid. I'm surprised Benzema has lasted as long as he has to be honest.

Interesting choice. Dutch, left footed, promising
From what I have seen so far, I don't think he is better (or worse) than Blackett, so why buy him? We need someone experienced as we have Shaw, Blackett and James on the left side, but all with potential and noexperience.

No but if you want a player and you've already given it large about what the club can do in the transfer window the selling club isn't going to entertain you trying to lowball them are they?

You wont get a bargain for the type of player we need, you either pay the cash or get left behind.

He must have done one with the Sundays after the Liverpool match and now the quotes come out. Some of them were leaked this week, such as the Moyes one.
Well there has been nothing on MUTV and usually there is something on the news bulletin if there is a sound bite from a presser!
